Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted July 28, 2015 Author #826 Share Posted July 28, 2015 Just a quick hello this morning . We are going off line for a little as we change TV , home phone and internet providers . So sorry for the mishaps Denise . We would not have bought the overpriced hot dog either . We don't mind paying good money for something good , but nobody likes getting ripped off ! By any chance was this the A Taste of Paris Tour ? I found it amusing when I read the description and it had the disclaimer " lunch not included " . But thanks for raising the topic of affordable food on tours . I wasn't going to use these photos , but these show a more affordable option for lunch in Mt. St. Micheal .
Iamthesea Posted July 28, 2015 #827 Share Posted July 28, 2015 (edited) Looking forward to the London edition the most. I have waited patiently reading through this review for two months, now. :D;) We leave for London this Fall. After reading about your France and Mont-Saint- Michel edition, I was enchanted! I have been to many European hilltop villages, but this village appears to top them all! It's a coincidence that this little tidbit was on the front page of MSN this morning. Look for the last two slides. http://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/gallery/the-real-places-that-inspired-all-your-fave-disney-movies/ss-AAcJI6y?ocid=U142DHP#image=22 Edited July 28, 2015 by Iamthesea

Iamthesea Posted July 28, 2015 #830 Share Posted July 28, 2015 No, just wanting to see photos and hear about what you did in London this last trip. :) The waiting has been a joy as I have seen other ports of call that we will be visiting. I am really torn now between seeing MSM and Normandy. :( DH, of course, wants to see the Normandy battle beaches, etc.. Although he too is enchanted with MSM. Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted July 28, 2015 Author #833 Share Posted July 28, 2015 Because we were back early , Jamie suggested that we take a more scenic route rather than the quicker highway . It was fine with us and included a sandy beach , which I think is not common in France . The name of the area , Deauville brought back a flood of memories for me as a new teen . In it's heyday in the 50's and 60's , the Deauville Beach Resort , in Miami Beach , was the hangout of the Rat Pack and hosted the second appearance of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show . My neighbor's sister had tickets to a dress rehearsal of the Beatles and offered them to me and my friend ( her brother ) , but my father wouldn't let me go ! After driving through the area Jamie showed us where to meet him and dropped us off here : While Ian Flemming was inspired to develop the character of Bond in Lisbon , this is the casino on which Casino Royale is based . Behind us is a walkway which leads to the beach . The American Film Festival has been held here every year since 1975 . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deauville_American_Film_Festival This promenade , the Promenade des Planches , is dedicated to the actors and movie makers who come here . There is a broad expanse of sand and shells here Did I say shells ?

Rare MicCanberra Posted July 28, 2015 #837 Share Posted July 28, 2015 The Casino looks great also like the pics of cheaper food options when in France, I may need them one day. Hilarious that the taste of Paris doesn't include food, so ironic.:D
Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted July 28, 2015 Author #838 Share Posted July 28, 2015 More beach photos of this beautiful area Walking back toward the casino The hotel across from the casino is the Normandy Barriere . Walking a little further , we found this high end shopping area .
jenseib Posted July 29, 2015 #839 Share Posted July 29, 2015 Catching back up again....we head out Friday...I am so ready to leave dodge! That sheep picture is just amazing. I think so far it's my favorite. What lens are you using for your dinner shots? They are coming out so fantastic. I am just about packed but haven't decided if I should take my external flash. I will admit I hardly use it even when I should, but I often bring it. But I hate to have the extra weight of hauling it around. And sure as I don't bring it I will want it. LOL. We know , we're so ready for our next cruise ! Most of the food shots are with the little Sony pocket camera . It's easy to carry and takes good closeups and video . I carry a flash because the 6 D doesn't have one . Please have a safe and great trip , and take lots of photos . OK ? We've booked a Alaskan cruise for next June , so we would love to see your photos and hear about your trip , when you get back ! :) :D

Pemcorgimum Posted July 29, 2015 #845 Share Posted July 29, 2015 (edited) "It was fine with us and included a sandy beach , which I think is not common in France" I think you have been misinformed. There are hundreds of wonderful sandy beaches in France all around the Normandy , Brittany and Atlantic Coast. And of course the Med. Think of the Normandy beaches. Omaha in particular. And gorgeous sandy beaches all around the Breton coast. Just do a search for sandy beaches in France and you will see what I mean. Froxfield Posted July 29, 2015 #846 Share Posted July 29, 2015 Thank you Lynne , we're glad that you are enjoying it . No , the omelet was not cooked all the way through . We didn't know that when I ordered it , thinking that it was a savory foam or mousse . I didn't realize that the omelet was half baked until I saw the video , and I wanted other people to be aware of that fact . But that's how an omelette should be cooked. It looked quite excellent. And how I would expect in France! Cooked through ends up like shoe leather? La Mere Poulard has been famous for years, I can remember back in the 1980s....... I don't know if I were or not , but we trusted our guide and his assessments . We asked him for a restaurant suggestion and we had heard of it , so we went with it . When he discussed beaches , we had no knowledge of the region , but we listened him and were quite happy with his choice . One person may see many sandy beaches while another only sees only a few . They are each entitled to their own opinions and we value both . :) :D
