phissy Posted May 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2015 Just looking at NCL site for promos and some thing seemed off. All four promos listed and if Suite or Haven booked one would receive all four. They say it is over a $2,000 value. Adding each : excursion credit (4port limit) + UDP credit for 2 + OBC + 250 internet minutes totals $845.00. Am I mistaken or missing something?

phissy Posted May 27, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted May 27, 2015 Thanks for reply. Re checked offer page and it clearly states get all four offers , valued at $2,090.00. Kids sail free on limited sailings , not all. Something still not right?

Rare mking8288 Posted May 27, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 27, 2015 Extra, extra - you just won as much $2,090 from NCL - please check with your accountant to see if Uncle Sam, the taxman is going to take a cut for that = taxes owed. Think for a moment, how is NCL going to make money after all the giveaways ? Good question, huh. Let's see - photography, bingo, casino, gift shops, spa, etc. etc. Ever shop at retail stores where they doubled the prices as MSRP and then discount it by 50% and call it a big sale. Or, stores with prices marked down 75%, everything in the store - everyday, 365 days a year, always 75% off retail. Innovative marketing = creative accounting illusions. Nice cashback or rebate deal, no ? Yes, except you need to give some of it back in the form of 18% gratuities (on dining & beverages, soda and/or alcohol) Oh, almost forgot - 50% off deposit. That's a big one. Except, you will still need full payment by the due day. It's interest-free? Yulp. Gotcha ! Hurry, offer expiring soon - capacity controlled. P.S. Don't wait for us, please feel free to go ahead and run for it.

phissy Posted May 27, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted May 27, 2015 I agree that NCL will never give anything away for free....we always pay one way or another. Here is the quick breakdown on my calculations: $50 per port per cabin (4 max) $200 $110 dining per person. (2 x 110) ( 2x 75 for 7 day ) $220. Or $440 for 4 $300 OBC per booking 250 internet minutes $125 as per NCL per booking Total for 2 in Suite $845 or for 4 in Suite $1,065. We are booked in a Suite with the 4 bonus offers from April. I know we actually paid for them in our cruise fare but, we will still enjoy using them on our cruise. I worry that NCL is losing money on these promos ( hold up sarcasm sign).:D
hawkeyetlse Posted May 27, 2015 #10 Share Posted May 27, 2015 $110 dining per person. (2 x 110) ( 2x 75 for 7 day ) $220. Or $440 for 4 The dining credit is only for passengers 1 & 2. From the T&C: "Specialty Dining Credit: Applicable to guest 1-2 on the reservation. Specialty dining credit for two depending on sail length. Includes applicable gratuities."So even if you have 4 (or 8) people in your suite, I think the maximum savings would still be 2 × $110 (for the longest cruises). I'm with you, I have no idea where NCL gets the figure of "up to $2090". But keep in mind that according to their legal notice, they do not guarantee the accuracy of anything on their own website: NCL makes no representation or warranty as to the completeness or accuracy of the information contained in this site. partigus Posted May 28, 2015 #11 Share Posted May 28, 2015 we booked a family suite for 5 on a previous deal...we got full unlimited dining (not a credit) for the entire party, Ulitmate Beverage (alcohol for first two guests, soda for the kids), a $200 OBC, and free prepaid gratuities...I booked three cruises with that deal right about the time oil prices had bottomed. DevCruise Posted May 30, 2015 #12 Share Posted May 30, 2015 Two more items to consider.....Some ships have a Garden Villa and hold up to 8 people, so if we're counting kids/family sail free, that's up to 6 people sailing free. Also, regarding the UDP/UBP, I wonder how the math works out if instead of counting the cost of the program, you factor in the value of the benefit (ie. Tappenaki or Cagney's every night, x number of drinks, etc?)

Was just reading a full page slick advertisement in a major travel magazine, about a certain all inclusive cruise line ... free transfer, free business class round-trip airfares, free drinks & beverages, free gratuities, etc. so nothing extra - got a nice chuckle myself on the outside ballpark figure for the all inclusive 14 nights package. A little imagination is good - we can dream, can't we not ?

mugtech Posted May 31, 2015 #16 Share Posted May 31, 2015 Here's another NCL math problem The Star transatlantic in April, 2016, 14 days, plus 7 days to Norway plus 9 days Baltic is priced at $2,689 for an inside, while the individual cruises are priced at $849, $819, and $1,019 for a total of $2,687, $2 difference no big deal. But if booked as three separate cruises one can use a cruise rewards for each cruise, a $200 saving. In addition, the platinum rewards would be available on each separate cruise instead of only once for a 30 day cruise. Why would anyone book the 30 day instead of 3 separate cruises at current pricing?

swedish weave Posted May 31, 2015 #18 Share Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) You can keep the same cabin for all three legs? That doesn't seem like much of a positive when you would have to give up 2/3 of the platinum benefits. Four meals at Le Bistro with wine, Laundry, and some others. If you have to move, the crew will move your "stuff" for you. I would prefer the separate bookings and the two dollars !! lol Maybe FDR needs to hire some more CPA's to get the numbers right. mugtech Posted May 31, 2015 #19 Share Posted May 31, 2015 If booking today through my PCC, getting the same cabin for all three is a can do easy. If for some reason this could not be done, the crew moves everything to the new cabin anyway, just the trouble of having to pack and unpack an extra time. Booking more than 9 months ahead of time I have never had a problem getting the inside cabin I want on b2b.
