During spring break we had an OV cabin selected. Then there was a sale for gty balcony. We bit the bait. OMG......what a disaster. Cabin appeared to be usual balcony until 8:30 pm When it morphed into the cabin from hell. It was directly above the band area in the casino....a very small band area, but the noise was mighty! Without any exaggeration the walls literally vibrated when you touched them. We lay on the bed and the bass was filtered up through the bedstead into the pillow, and was incredibly loud. There was a short break in the noise, and we thought he was taking a break, but even then he kept the amplifier on with a constant mind numbing endless beat. We went to customer service and told them one night of this was an inconvenience, but 6 would be totally unacceptable. They said no room at the inn. Come back at 10.am to see mgr. They were very pleasant and would obviously have done something if at all possible. They also told us they chart cabin complaints and this cabin is known to them for the noise issue. Seems like a no brainer...assign this one to a young couple or two guys or girls who are likely to be absent from their cabin every night from 8:30-12:30 when the music played. fast forward....couple who did not board in Ft L are not joining cruise, so there is a cabin available, and we got it. We would have invoked the satisfaction quarantee and disembarked at

Jamaica and returned to Ft L for a land vacation....it was that bad. Gotta give carnival full credit for helpfulness and pleasant staff. No rolling of eyes or reminders that we booked a guarantee. Our real issue is NOBODY deserves this cabin....and we will never do a gty again. Lesson learned.

That sounds awful. It's good you got to move to a different cabin.

I have it in my mind that Carnival used to classify some potentially noisy cabins as "night-owl cabins" and price them accordingly. Is my memory right? Those cabins could be a good deal for people who like to be out partying late.

But I agree that no one should be in such a cabin without knowing what they are getting in for. Even those booking guarantees should have some expectation of being able to sleep.

op i feel you on that cabin, and would never select it because of the location above the band... if assigned as a guarantee, i'd probably pay to upgrade!

yes, you're right about the night owl cabins. they were on destiny above the dance club... i believe that was the only ship, as they improved the design in subsequent ships... i'm not certain if they are still classified as such on sunshine...

That's why we will never book a gty no matter how cheap.

Yikes...well, at least it's great that the staff was able to resolve it for you!

I had a similar cabin on the Conquest on my first Carnival cruise. There was no vacation guarantee at that time, or I would have taken advantage of it and gotten off at the first port. There were no other cabins available to move us into, so we had 7 nights of just what OP described. It went on until about 2:00 AM. At the end Carnival gave us a 25% refund on our cruise fare and 15% off a future cruise. I would rather have had a quiet cabin, but I was satisfied with what they gave us. I do think they should identify and price those noisy cabins as "night-owl" cabins though.

  • 4 years later...

Update on Carnival Spendor Cabin 6367 December 2019.

My husband and I were upgraded to this cabin on its inaugural trip from Singapore to Sydney (where it will now be based after a quick update). I read the bad reviews with trepidation, but took a punt on it being nowhere near as bad as the reviews.

I would never pay list price for this cabin. If I had young children, I would not choose this cabin. If I routinely went to be before 11pm (and expected to sleep) I would not choose this cabin.

But having said that, most people can work around the noise/vibration issues. The reviews are basically correct. The cabin is still above the Casino stage (which operates most nights between 7.30pm and 11.15pm).  The noise is very loud, but the vibrations are worse (ear plugs have no effect on the bass throbbing). To some degree, it depends on which artist is playing. Travis (who is wonderful - look for him around the ship) played "I've Been Everywhere (Man)" on that stage one night and we were literally hanging onto the mattress laughing.  Does anyone remember the coin-operated vibrating beds in motels back in the 70s? It was JUST like that.

Again, I would not pay full price for a cabin which cannot be used 100% of the time.  As an upgrade, we were happy enough to work around it's issues. The cabin itself is a fair size, has an unobstructed balcony and a good (if periodically vibrating) bed.

Basically, it becomes your choice with this cabin.  We'd still be happy enough with it as an upgrade (and we aren't young).
