Thank you Alex for your refreshing perspective of a first time cruiser. Seems as though you are hooked. You will have to work and save extra hard so this can become a regular event in your life. Your enthusiasm is upbeat. Your English teacher must have taught you well.

Glad your Grandma took you on this cruise. She must be someone very special.

Thank you! I'm hooked on cruising and my goal is to be able to get a good career that'll give me the ability to afford cruising a lot! And I love my grandmother, she's my Travel buddy! :)

Great photos and am looking forward to your additional posts.

On your next cruise perhaps you can sign up for the "ultimate ship tour"

I took this on the Ruby during our Mediterranean cruise and it was amazing. We went below the normal decks to see the inner workings of the ship as well as behind the scenes at the theater, into the laundry, print shop, kitchen, medical center, engine control room and finally the bridge. I am sure that you would really enjoy it.

Looking forward to your port reviews.

Thanks! I soo regret not doing that behind the scenes tour, next cruise I will definitely look into doing that, my friend on the cruise did it and she said it was amazing, she even got a picture with the captain!

Day 4- Our First Stop: Puerto Vallarta!

After 2 wonderful and relaxing days at sea, we arrived at our first stop of Puerto Vallarta! We awoke this morning and checked the map and webcam channel to see where we were at, and we were already approaching PV!

p><p><img src=The Miracle approaching PV behind us!

As we started to pull into port, you could see how beautiful this city is, and I saw why a lot of people come here for a week or so and stay at one of those fancy resorts, it is just so beautiful in PV, I started to fall in love with this place the minute we pulled in!

p><p><img src=I love this place!

It was very hot here and it was only 10 am! It was probably around 83 or 84, pretty warm but I was okay with it, we were in Mexico so it was expected, perfect beach weather! I ran into my friend Marissa again up on Lido and they were going to do an excursion here in PV today, me and grandma weren't doing any excursions, we wanted to do some exploring of the city and head to "El Malecon" and the beach! We soon waited around for the announcement that we could get off the ship, and once the guy said "Ladies and gentlemen the Ruby Princess is now safely secure at her berth and we will now begin to let you off down on the gangway on Deck 4! We hope you have a wonderful day here in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! The Ruby Princess sails for Mazatlan at 6 so please be onboard by 5!" So we headed down to our cabin, got our stuff and got ready for our day in PV! We then proceeded down to the gangway on Deck 4 and they scanned our cruise cards and we were now in Mexico!!!

p><p><img src=Getting off the ship in PV, our ship is huge holy cow!!

Next up: Fun in PV and lots more pics!!

Fun in Puerto Vallarta (lot's of pics!)

p><p>We got off the ship and immediately tourist mode kicks in, LOL we were like "now what??" We got on a city bus that took us to El Malecon and luckily my grandma already had some pesos with her so I think it was like $1 something for the bus ride? Not bad at all! From the bus we passed all the resorts and I was like "Wow this place is amazing! I

p><p><img src=Do I have to go back home??

After spending some time relaxing at the beach, we headed towards the Malecon and we saw a Mcdonald's and I was like WIFI I AM COMING FOR YOU! So we went to McDonald's and bought lunch and they gave me their wifi code! McDonald's in Mexico has a bit of a different menu but I got a chicken sandwich and the fries tasted the same they do here! I logged onto the wifi and checked Facebook, Instagram, and then I FaceTime'd my mom who was in Vegas with my brothers! It was nice seeing them and talking to them about how the cruise was going! I posted some pictures on Instagram and Facebook, and checked out the comments I had on the pictures I posted before we sailed from LA and then I messaged some friends to see if they had been missing me, LOL.

After our McDonald's excursion, we went to a bank to exchange currency and get some Pesos for the rest of the trip! Then, we decided to walk El Malecon and do some shopping for some souvenirs to take back home with us. p><p><img src=Old Vallarta, I love the style of these old little towns!

Fun Day in PV continues

After a 10 minute bus ride from El Malecon, we arrived at "Las Gallerias Vallarta" which was right in front of our ship!

p><p>There also happened to be a Walmart here too next to the mall, so we decided to go check it out, I wanted to see what Walmart is like in Mexico! We entered and it was HUGEE and they had pretty much everything in there, even a restaurant, grocery section, and a meats section! We didn

p><p>This mall was amazing! Huge difference than the malls we have here in California! There was this beautiful big fountain when you walked in, with escalators! What a grand entrance! We looked around and found a Starbucks and we got some Frappucinos (I got the Vanilla bean frap but it didn

p><p><img src=I can see our dinning room window!

After a long day in PV, it was around 4:30 ish and we headed back to the ship because we were hot, sweaty, tired, and sunburned. We were also hungry and it was almost dinner time!

Alex, you seem to be such a special boy. Your grandma must be so proud of you! Reading all of your post puts such a huge smile on my face. We will be sailing on the Grand in September to the Mexican Riveria and this is such a nice prelude to the trip. I look forward to reading your continued post. Thank you, Alex

We made it to the mall, too, and it was quite nice. The air conditioning helped a lot! We didn't get into town like you, but walked down to the Hilton Hotel to check it out. Long walk, very hot and exhausting! Isn't it nice to feel that first burst of air conditioning when you walk back on the ship?

I'm really enjoying your adventure with grandma! So then what happened?

An Enchanting Evening at Sea

We got back onboard on our ship, and the air conditioning felt AMAZING! They scanned our cards and checked our bags to make sure we didn't bring anything bad back onboard. One thing I really loved before we got back onboard was the hand sanitizer station and the cold towels that they give, very nice touch, go Princess!! We headed up to our cabin and dropped off our bags. Grandma decided to take a shower and I laid down for a bit and relaxed. After that, Grandma headed down to the Piazza to listen to the band that was playing down there and met up with her friend and killed time before dinner. I showered and got ready for dinner, and boy did that shower feel amazing after being in the sun all day! After my shower I headed down to the Piazza to check on Grandma and she's with her friend she had met earlier after the muster on day 1!

<!--url{0}-->LOL, Grandma and her buddy relaxin

After checking on Grandma, I headed up to the Promenade to go for a walk and enjoy the views of Puerto Vallarta from the ship. The moment I set foot outside you could feel the heat! I walked around the Promenade and killed some time before dinner time.

p><p><img src=Great close up view of the Carnival Miracle!

I was walking around the Promenade, and then I saw a kid around my age who was traveling on this cruise with his grandfather, and they were having a good time and taking pictures, and then that's when it hit me. It hit me that my grandfather was no longer here, this could have been me and him, here together on this wonderful cruise enjoying ourselves. I was sad for a little bit and I was standing looking out at the ocean and imagining him there with me and that's when I felt his presence, I knew he was there with me.

After my walk on deck, it was time for dinner and I headed down to the Piazza to get my grandma and we headed to the Boticelli dinning room for our dinner tonight! It was really cool because when we arrived to our table, you could look outside and see we were getting ready to depart PV! Since we were right at the aft part of the ship, we got to see our entire departure from PV while we ate dinner, super cool! We even were able to feel the engines start up from underneath, everything vibrated as the engines started up and we made our way to Mazatlan!

a side of french fries, and some cheesecake that was THE BOMB!(Food pics to follow in another post after this one, wish there wasn

After Dinner, we decided to go see a show in the Princess theater tonight, and it was a Broadway style dancing show, very great show and we both highly enjoyed it! After the show, they gave out colorful necklaces for the "Ultimate Deck Party" that was going on. We headed up to the Lido for that party, and it was an amazing party and everyone was having a great time! The music was awesome, everyone danced, and had a wonderful time! They played music from every decade starting from the 50's to now, to celebrate Princess' 50th Anniversary! There was even a conga line going on, and even my grandma was dancing, LOL! We had an amazing time, and it was a night I will never forget, very memorable!

p><p><img src=Everyone is out having a great time!

After the party, we were pooped out once again after a long and fun day in PV and all that dancing we did! We headed down to our cabin and crashed for the night, tomorrow is Mazatlan!!

Next up: Our fun day in Mazatlan!!

Wonderful review Alex! Your grandmother is truly blessed to have you as a grandson.

I love all the wonderful photos. It looks as though the two of you are having a great time. And good for your Grandmother to get over her fear of cruising.

Can't wait for more.

What a wonderful review. I am going on the Crown in December. It will be my 21st cruise and most to Mexico. I still get very excited. My daughter was 3 1/2 the first time she cruised. I am glad you got to spend that great time with your grandmother. I hope to take my granddaughter eventually. Hope you have many more sailings in your future.

Enjoying following your cruise. I'll be on the Ruby for a coastal in the fall, so this thread has me excited about it already!

Princess cheesecake IS the bomb :). I still remember it from my last cruise on the Golden.

It's sooo good, I want some Princess cheesecake right now! I want to do another Princess cruise JUST for some cheesecake LOL.
