NMIGAL Posted June 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2015 I'm trying to help my mom plan her first cruise. She knows she would like to sail on the Breeze and off the ship she only wants to snorkel. Which cruise would you pick for snorkeling and why: 1. St. Maarten, Antigua, St. Thomas, Amber Cove 2. Grand Turk, La Romana, Curacao, Aruba
evandbob Posted June 3, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2015 Grand Turk, but not from shore, have to go out on a boat. There's several coral gardens, a huge drop off, as well as smaller isles where stingrays and other creatures can be lured by food and bait to come close to shore. Curacao is world famous for diving, so snorkeling should also be good. I won't have 1st hand experience until this winter. LaRomana has a very long trip to Saona Island, but is it worth it? You go to a starfish area also. Aruba has the Antilles wreck and a coral garden outside of the Rennaisance island beach. St Thomas coral is mostly bleached and dying, Amber Cove is the Atlantic Ocean, St Marten has Creole Rock and Antigua isn't known for coral. So #2 by a large shot! Alabaster Cruiser Posted June 3, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2015 I'm trying to help my mom plan her first cruise. She knows she would like to sail on the Breeze and off the ship she only wants to snorkel. Which cruise would you pick for snorkeling and why: 1. St. Maarten, Antigua, St. Thomas, Amber Cove 2. Grand Turk, La Romana, Curacao, Aruba Aruba- grab a public bus and go to Boca Catalina. Can snorkel from the beach and will be at the same site that the cats go to for less than $8 pp round trip. cruzeluver Posted June 3, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 3, 2015 Agreed about Grand Turk, and definitely from a boat, not from shore! we have snorkeled all over the Western, eastern and Southern Caribbean and Grand Turk is some of the best.
