Cruise Cards

I hate lanyards, but these ones are OK attached to a belt or belt loop then stick the card in my pocket.

They are versatile, and you can't beat the price of FREE!!! (Unless you spend too much time in the casino! LOL! Ok, I know some people win, but I never do, but do have a little fun trying! Now when do I get the casino offers that people have been talking about?)

Happy Cruising!

We always go to the Casino when they open and they have someone with a hole puncher and a bunch of the elastic coil cords with a little key style ring on one end and a clip of sorts that opens so that you could attach it to a belt loop or he like. They have these in casinos so that you can play with the card inserted in the machine while tethered to you so that you don't forget it. We simply connect the latching end to the key ring end as a loop to wear around our neck like a lanyard. We like this as opposed to a lanyard as these are elastic and you can leave it on your neck and still use the card to open the cabin door without any fumbling to find our card. When we go the the pool or hot tubs we just put it under clothes or a towel on a deck chair with cameras and everything else and have never had a problem. Picture attached as my words are not as clear as a picture!

I use one of those attached to the belt loop on my trousers. I also have a small flashlight (courtesy of an NCL trivia win:D) and a small bottle opener attached - ready for anything!

Always use a lanyard since my first cruise.(Not flaunting the color of my card) I always know where my card is and tuck it in to my shirt off ship.

Obviously don't care what others think ,if I still use a lanyard after I've been told how uncool they are.:D

Will not flaunt or hide my black card next cruise either :)

Hi All

I'm glad I read this thread before my cruise in a couple of months. All the information I'm gathering through the forums is fantastic.

Now if I can just remember not to skip with excitement when I wait to board I might be ok.

Nothing wrong with skipping with excitement while boarding.

Or if there is I'm in trouble.

THANK YOU! You most clearly explained a VERY practical solution to this newbie cruiser. I hadn't thought to leave my towel on a deck chair with the cruise card safely tucked out of sight-I have read that beach towels are available in the pool areas so that problem is solved now!:D

Or grin like a lunatic escaped from the psychiatric treatment facility! Yes, I WILL have to be careful not to do EXACTLY that when I finally board in November 2016, after a 7 month delay due to "operational reasons."

I think if that excitement ever fades I'll have to find a new holiday experience.

If you're on a ship, (Royal or Regal, for instance,), that has a slot on the wall in the cabin by the door, you have to put your card in it to operate the lights, and take it out when you leave to turn them off. Outlets for chargers still work. Instead of my cruise card, we use an old credit card, hotel card, and last time, an old Blockbuster card. Push it down to activate the lights, and pull it up slightly to deactivate. Your steward will do the same thing.

Outside the cabin my card goes in a front pocket or a tiny purse.
