Clarea Posted June 22, 2015 #76 Share Posted June 22, 2015 I am going on Oasis next year. Does the fridge keep sodas and water cold. I was planning on bringing a small ice chest. I would say the fridge keeps thinks cool, not cold.
Rare BillOh Posted June 22, 2015 #77 Share Posted June 22, 2015 Had same cabin on Allure and agree with everything you said about it...fortunately, we had the secret balcony right outside our door. Sniff sniff, will miss that as we plan to do Oasis and try for the Ocean View across the hall, we liked being back there.:D Agree completely. The OP's mentioning the one area left on deck 7 was nice. Still might be good place to watch the belly flop.

Rare APDMOM Posted June 22, 2015 Author #82 Share Posted June 22, 2015 Thanks for following along and for all the positive comments! Unfortunately, my car is still giving trouble today, so I have to get that fixed this afternoon. I will be back tonight. :)

Fizzlewicket Posted June 22, 2015 #86 Share Posted June 22, 2015 Enjoying the review so far. Love the fine details and that you made sure we know exactly what you are referring to. I'm here with bells on! (Only because I can't figure how to get these dang things off!)
LuCruise Posted June 22, 2015 #87 Share Posted June 22, 2015 I know... this was a very quiet sailaway party... I was surprised too. Many people who had Boardwalk balconies did participate from there though. The back rows of the Aqua Theater also fill faster, so the picture you see is not a real representation of the attendance. I will post more later. The weather was a bit 'touch and go'. So all the more room for those of us that go in person :D Enjoying your review so far. Love too how you posted pictures of different things such as the computer system. Looks like a great way to get up to date information.
KBD1516 Posted June 22, 2015 #88 Share Posted June 22, 2015 Thanks for your review. We have this cabin in January 2016 and I did not know about the overhang. I am also happy to hear they will open the balcony dividers as my sister will be next door.

Clarea Posted June 22, 2015 #91 Share Posted June 22, 2015 Great reviews; love the attention to details. I never heard of a thermometer; I may have to get one. Thanks. We got a combo luggage scale/thermometer similar to this, and have found it very useful: http://www.amazon.com/SODIAL-Digital-Handheld-Luggage-Thermometer/dp/B00KBPS1MS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1435013028&sr=8-4&keywords=luggage+scale+thermometer

Rare APDMOM Posted June 23, 2015 Author #93 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Thanks to all for the positive feedback, as well as the input with additional tips! I hope I did not miss any questions. In an effort to save time, I am not responding to each commend individually, but I do appreciate the input from all. Let's roll with some more info about the ship... Sundeck: I would not have known about this area on the ship, were it not for CC, so I am paying it forward. Above the bridge is the sundeck. You have to take the port side hallway on deck 14 to get there: Unfortunately, I only got one daytime picture, since my camera battery died: A view of the Helipad from the Sundeck: A telescope! Rare APDMOM Posted June 23, 2015 Author #94 Share Posted June 23, 2015 The verdict on VOOM! (Internet): This was the first time we bought the full internet package. My parents really needed contact with home (in Africa), so we had to get a package. We really liked the speed and quality of the internet. However, it was very spotty the last 2 days. We probably only had a total of 1 hour access during the last two days. So, it is not completely reliable. With our "Platinum C&A" discount, it cost $89.25 for the week. We purchased the one device package. You can, however, use more than one device, just be sure to log out of one device before you log in to another device. There are many computers available for internet. They may be a bit hard to find because they were not clearly marked on the deck plans. Here is an effort to indicate the little room on deck 9. The blue star shows the approximate room location: Follow the signs to the interior corridor on deck 9 (there is a similar room on deck 7): I am pretty sure there were more locations with computers, but these are the two I ran into while exploring the ship. joand452 Posted June 23, 2015 #95 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Enjoying your review and photos. We'll be on Oasis again in August. We did a B2B in a deck 9 JS in 2012; this time is a deck 6 ocean balcony. Hoping we get the bed by the closet. I'm going to make a note about getting a list of the Small Wonders at GS. I don't think I got them all in 2012--even after spending 14 days on the ship! Looking forward to more! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Rare APDMOM Posted June 23, 2015 Author #96 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Ship on a ship: During my travels, I ran into Freedom of the Seas (deck 9, I think?). I love ship models, and especially liked that I could see my next cruise balcony :D I also made a quick trip to the entrance to the Diamond club to take a few pictures of the Oasis model:
Rare APDMOM Posted June 23, 2015 Author #97 Share Posted June 23, 2015 If you go to the aft seating of the Wipeout Cafe, you can get to this famous view of Oasis: Speaking of the Wipeout Cafe, it is a great option for a quick lunch break from the pool. You can also get soft serve frozen yogurt and good pretzel dogs from this cafe. Other than that, they have hot dogs and hamburgers. It is a small space to get food, but the flow of traffic is good. At breakfast, you can get some buffet food and made-to-order eggs. Here is the aft seating area: All seating is outdoors, but covered:
Rare APDMOM Posted June 23, 2015 Author #98 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Central Park Tour There is a Central Park Tour where you can get very interesting information about this unique neighborhood on Oasis. I will share a few of the interesting facts here, but definitely recommend the tour! It was on the Compass and presented on 2 sea days. Before I get into the fun facts, here is another tip: There is a door on deck 9 that will lead you to a small balcony with a great lookout on Central Park: Here is the view from that area:
Rare APDMOM Posted June 23, 2015 Author #99 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Fun facts: Here are some fun facts about Central Park (for a geeky girl like me, at least): 1. Central Park covers about 23,000 square feet 2. These seemingly decorative structures beside our tour guide/landscape specialist (Laszlo Turos) are actually able to extract smoke from the promenade in the case of a fire: 3. In order to accommodate the plants in Central Park, the ventilation system can be adjusted for warmer air in the winter and cooler air in the summer! This explains why I typically found Central Park to be very comfortable. 4. Certain species of plants are more likely to pick up diseases in Caribbean countries, so they are not allowed in Central Park on Oasis. Bamboo is an example of banned plants. They were originally on the ship, but had to be removed to be in compliance with the USDA and Dept. of Agriculture. 5. The infrastructure of Central Park is designed to drain water in order to control the weight of the deck. They use a drip irrigation system that can be programmed for seasonal and weather changes. The sizes of trees and plants need to be maintained for fire hazard control too. It is 'almost' rocket science. :) On the pool deck, we noticed a folded up structure that looked like a crane... at the tour, we found out that it is indeed a crane. Anything that does not fit in an elevator gets transported to CP via the crane. Here is a picture of a picture... crane in action: The tool shed:
Rare APDMOM Posted June 23, 2015 Author #100 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Beautiful Central Park: It is hard to pick my favorite pictures of Central Park. This would be a great spot for a formal night picture: This is the area you can see on the webcam: Lovely flowers: One of my favorite views: Evening view from above: Other views you have seen in previous pictures, but there is no way to show it all in pictures. It is just something to be experienced!
