hi, everyone! my family is about one month away from our first cruise to alaska (yay!!). there are 11 of us aged 7-72. we have a private tour booked in skagway and have decided to explore ketchikan on our own. juneau remains the question... we could probably be okay walking around the town and getting to mendenhall by ourselves, as i've read there are easy shuttles to and from. but we would also like to explore outside of the immediate area. that is, if there is much to explore? not looking for anything too adventurous or active due to the make-up of our group. again, something like a city tour with stops to places we might not be able to get to on our own without a vehicle. have considered juneau limo but can't seem to find too many reviews on them. wondering if anyone has had any experience with that company or can recommend any others. thanks in advance!

There is so much to see and do in every Alaska port. You have to stick together? There isn't anything else of interest, looking over your shore excursion list, then a bus tour? Nobody wants to fly, whale watch, kayak etc?

MGT runs a good, reasonable bus tour, that could be good for a group. The time at Mendenhall is limited however. You could inquire about a private tour, contracted by your group?

What ship are you on? We are on the Ossterdam in one month out of Seward. In Juneau we are doing a whale watch with Harv and Marv first thing, with a stop at Mendenhall Glacier. I talked with others who traveled to Alaska last summer. They got off the ship walked up to a vendor and they were taken on a whale watch and loved it. So explore your options. In Juneau we are doing something on the water, in Skagway seeing as much as possible on land and in Ketchikan seeing the beauty of the Misty Fjords. Of course we will explore each port with what time we have left. Enjoy your trip.
