Cakediva1 Posted July 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2015 Just got off Victory today and had a fantastic cruise! I was pleasantly surprised. The ship was clean and beautiful. The food was very good. It was better than the Princess Regal I was just on in April. Since it was the 4th of July the ship had a lot of teens and young adults. No big deal. I knew what I was getting myself into. I just stayed in the Serenity area. The buffet lines were long but you just plan around that. For breakfast instead of standing in the long lines go to the Express Breakfast which is located in the center. Fast and quick. They have the same items in the buffet lines sands the fruit and cheeses. We did the Chefs Table. OMG!!!! What an incredible experience. Well worth the money and then some. If you have any questions please ask away!! I also booked a day room at the Miami International Hotel which is located right in the terminal. Very convenient. Our flight is later this afternoon so this was perfect to relax and chill for a few hours. Ask away!
SMSACE6 Posted July 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2015 Thanks for your review! There is really not much said about this ship here on the boards, and few reviews, so I appreciate yours:) I have been booked on this ship for October, and am not sure if I will be able to still go, but I am holding off until closer to final payment to make my decision. Still I really really want to go, and your review makes me want to go all that more! Thanks again:)
mcfam5 Posted July 7, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Glad to see this positive review on the Victory! We just booked a quick four day trip for the hubs and I today....we leave December 3rd. Do you have any photos from your trip? :)
lurkerfrommidwest Posted July 7, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 7, 2015 What sailing was it? We are on the Aug 3 which does gcm and ocho rios. If it was that one I would love to see the funtimes. It is a "girls trip" for my daughters graduation, me, her, my sister and my mom.
Wolfhunt Posted July 7, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Good to hear. We will be on the Victory on Aug 3. Would love to see some pics of the ship if you have any. How do you like the Miami Intercontenental? We are staying there the night before the cruise.
Cakediva1 Posted July 7, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted July 7, 2015 You guys will love this ship. The service was awesome. Our waiters in the MDR-Martha and Iggy were fantastic. I would sail this ship again in a heart beat. I have been on 9 cruises with various cruise lines. Solo and with family (I prefer solo)lol I would not go in the summer-way too hot and I LOVE the sun. Way too many teens/kids. Just not my thing. The live bands were great. The comedy shows sucked. I spent a lot of time in the casino playing penny slots. Earned the free drink card the last day. We had an inside cabin on the Empress deck. The room was spacious and our steward Raynat was on point. We did FTTF and it was the best $49 bucks I spent. From the curb to the holding area after check in 10 minutes tops! Had to go to Guest Services a few times- walked right up. The ship has lots of cool nooks and crannies to relax and people watch. The Miami hotel check in was painless. The front desk agents were not bubbly or rude. Just here is your room and how will you like to pay. We got a room on the 5th floor facing ducts and back of buildings. Real dark and depressing. We went to the front desk and had the room changed. (I went to a different agent and she was wonderful) She gave us a room on the top floor and we were able to see the planes take off. Nice. The rooms are basic but clean. Could use an upgrade big time. I did not sit in the chairs or put any of my belongings on it. Very sketchy. But it is what it is. Would I stay there again? hmmmm depends on how long my layover is. Overnight? Probably not. The bright spot is that you only have to go downstairs to get on your flight. That alone was worth it.

Wolfhunt Posted July 7, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Thanks for the info CakeDiva. I misread where you stayed. We are at the Miami Intercontinental which is close to the ship port. Looking forward to this cruise. For us it is about kicking back and relaxing. We have a balcony on deck 10. We sailed with a balcony on our first cruise and I couldn't sail without one. Love sitting out there. Counting down the days.
CARNIVALCRUISE3 Posted July 7, 2015 #11 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Thanks so much for the review! I sailed on the Victory 10 years ago, then again last summer, and I will be sailing on her in 9 days again. The ship looks as new as it did 10 years ago. The staff is super friendly! carnivaladdix120 Posted July 7, 2015 #12 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Thanks for the great review! We sailed on Victory over Thanksgiving last year and February this year and are going again next week and I have to admit, I was nervous with all the bad reviews I read even though I sailed on her not too long ago ;) We're definitely looking forward to it so either way, it'll be a fun cruise! Glad you enjoyed your trip!!

Glad you enjoyed your trip!! I was nervous as well! Had no idea what to expect. I had a great time and then again- it is what you make it. Why complain about long lines or people in the MDR with shorts or flip flops. Who cares! I went with the attitude that I will have a great time no matter what! Guess what...I did! bonvoyagebites Posted July 7, 2015 #17 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Victory was our first cruise, back in 2012. It remains as perhaps my favorite so far.... The ship was decent, and the itinerary at the time was great. On my blog, there is a video from St Maarten from when we were there, and soon there will be one from snorkeling in St Kitts and St Thomas. Glad you had good times. We sure did. Here is a link to some Fun Times from last years version of that cruise. http://johnhealdsblog.com/funtimes/2014-06-05/Carnival%20Victory/3/ Siesta_Key pointed me to them on a different thread I had made requesting them. Mike & Julie Posted July 7, 2015 #19 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Recently sailed on The Victory and she was in good shape. Had a great time. Food was much improved since our last carnival cruise. We stayed at the intercontinental next to the port and it is a 5 star facility with harbor views.
SMSACE6 Posted July 7, 2015 #20 Share Posted July 7, 2015 I was on the same cruise. Did not have the same experience. I will post a review a little later I guess. I will look forward to your review also. I appreciate them all; the good, the some good/some bad, and the bad! I also accept that one person can sail on a cruise and have an excellent time, while another will sail on the same cruise and have a not so good time, for their own reasons. Please do post your review:)
djcass4199 Posted July 8, 2015 #21 Share Posted July 8, 2015 Victory was my second ever cruise in 2007, back when it was doing 7 days from Miami. That was a great cruise and I recall the ship was great. Really anxious to sail on Victory again.

I will be cruising with my 2 friends Sept 10th and one is a 1st time cruiser. I have a question about drinks. Did you happen to notice if Carnival offered drink specials? None of us gals will drink enough to make the "Cheer Pkg" worth our money. I was wondering because on my last cruise on RCCL they post in their daily planner which bar had a specialty price drink that evening (2 margaritas for $7 from 5-7pm etc.). I never thought to even looked when we cruised Carnival's Dream in 2012. Thanks for your review.

RIvacationgirl Posted July 13, 2015 #24 Share Posted July 13, 2015 We will be sailing the Victory in a few weeks and your news about your trip makes me happy. This is our first time with Carnival, we had only sailed NCL up until last week when we went on Holland. My biggest worry on Holland was the dress code compared to NCL. What is the dress code for Carnival? Is there formal nights or is it always smart casual in the dining rooms? Thank you for your help!:)
