Also wanting to do Prague to Berlin. Is one direction better than the other. Edited July 13, 2015 by krillsister
Rare franski Posted July 14, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2015 We did Prague to Berlin in May this year - we chose that direction so that we could extend extra days in Berlin. We had been to Prague before - and went in for one extra night there. We did *not* do the included tours as we had visited most of the included stops on our previous visit. We booked the extra night in Prague through Viking so we were at the host hotel. They had a shuttle bus available so we were able to use that to get into (and out of) Old Town. We could probably have found a cheaper hotel - but it was easy to not have to move for just one night. We extended 2 extra nights in Berlin - and moved to a hotel within walking distance from the host hotel there. Fran
CJcruzer Posted July 14, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 14, 2015 We did the Elbe river cruise October 2014 - I. chose Prague to Berlin, figuring Prague would be colder by end October than Berlin. We had been to Prague before in mid November, as an extension to the 15 day Grand European itinerary, and it was a little nippy. We had wonderful weather at both ends, the only rainy day was in Dresden. Both Prague and Berlin are interesting cities, i would recommend spending more time independently pre and post cruise. We stayed 5 nights pre-cruise in Prague and 5 nights post cruise in Berlin... We did not use Viking hotels for those portions, we found accommodations which were slightly better located at less cost. Our first time in Prague we did the viking post extension, as it was a last minute deal bundled up at a good price! if you have any specific questions, you can email me cgvelocci at gmail dot com it is a wonderful itinerary!
