how old is your son? if he is of legal drinking age for HAL there is no question.

 

If he is not, is it just regular cider or is there alcohol in it?

 

If there is no alcohol in it no problem. If there is he must be of legal drinking age for HAL (not where you are from).

If he is over 21 -- no problems.

Under 21 -- the officials at security may not realize that the bottle is non-alcoholic and confiscate it.

One bottle of wine per adult is permitted to be carried on with no corkage fee if you drink it in your room. If there are three of you, all adults, you will be able to bring on three bottles - more if you are willing to pay the $18 corkage fee per bottle. You can also carry on soft drinks.

Hopefully you will not have an issue bringing the sparkling cider on board for your son. Maybe to be extra cautious, see about getting a canned version so security will see it as soda (or use ginger-ale for his toasting).

Non alcohol beverages are fine- sparking cider has no alcohol. Just point out to the wine desk that it has no alcohol if any questions. Security should let you through with it and point you to the wine desk.

Thank you. He is 34, but doesn't drink (he has Down's Syndrome). Just wanted him to have something "special" (non-alcoholic sparkling cider) to celebrate with too! I think the bottle will seem more special to him than a can of ginger ale, although that's also a very good idea and we'll keep that in mind too.
