Jenniell Posted August 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2015 We got back on Saturday and I was up 9 lbs. Thankfully all but 3 are already gone but I can't be the only one who over indulged and the scale got mad at them.
surfjock27 Posted August 3, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2015 I never really gain on a cruise. Between all the walking on board and in ports, we tend to come back where we started. *knock on wood*
funinthesun1964 Posted August 3, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2015 I don't know but my weight has increased gradually and steadily over the past 4 years. Ironically, this is when we started cruising. *&^% !!
boopsahoy Posted August 3, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2015 I never really gain on a cruise. Between all the walking on board and in ports, we tend to come back where we started. *knock on wood* Same here! We also get an aft cabin so we have a long walk to the casino-and back for more money! lol
forwardcabin Posted August 3, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 3, 2015 (edited) On the cruise, we use the hallways on one of the cabin decks, like 6 or 7, to do our 1 mile walk. In the afternoon, we walk all the way from bow to stern on one side and, at the end, cross over and walk all the way back to the bow. Do this about 2-3 times, and you have walked a mile indoors--and without a sweat. After that, of course, we go get ice cream, pizza, and a deli sandwich! Jenniell Posted August 3, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted August 3, 2015 I did all the walking too. I even set up my step counter and logged 9-19 flights of stairs a day. Now I'm feeling even worse. Thanks guys. ;)
skylark131 Posted August 3, 2015 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2015 As soon as we get back, the scale usually says 10lbs of gain. But that's mostly water retention from all the salt. After a couple of days of detoxing the salt from my system, it's usually a couple of pounds....which is perfectly fine by me! (And I go to the gym every morning of the cruise and log 15,000+ steps per day....but I also just love me some foods on vacation!)
bury me at sea Posted August 3, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 3, 2015 I don't own scales. I find mirrors to be more helpdul. So far have always been able to wear the same clothes pre- and post-cruise.
Rare skittl1321 Posted August 3, 2015 #9 Share Posted August 3, 2015 I've lost between 3 and 5 pounds every cruise. We walk, a lot. I eat what I want, but I don't drink and I think the fruity drinks add up for many people. Sadly, it always comes back quite quickly after I get home. CutestLittleEvil Posted August 3, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Most cruises, 7-10days in length, I gain about 2-7lbs. Usually my clothing doesn't fit any differently... The weight usually is gone without 72 hours of being back on land. I did, one cruise, gain 15lbs in 5days . (Frozen drinks used to be my kryptonite). That one took significantly longer than 72 hours to lose. That being said I exercise like mad when on land; ballet barre 5-7days a week, high intensity cardio 5-7days a week, trail running (or hiking) on weekends, & baptiste power yoga. I don't do any of that on vacation. I take a vacation from the gym when I cruise. And I love that. If I don't indulge in frozen drinks, I only gain a pound or three. If I get the cheers packages and consume 3 mudslides, a pina colada and a kiss on the lips daily, then I know I might have an extra chin when I get home. asalligo Posted August 3, 2015 #11 Share Posted August 3, 2015 (edited) Consistently about 7 pounds each cruise. And it is not water weight or salt, just good old fashioned 7 pounds back down the diet chain. Edited August 3, 2015 by asalligo
Sweet Dutch Girl Posted August 3, 2015 #12 Share Posted August 3, 2015 (edited) Be honest.... how much weight have you put on at sea? Probably a couple of hundred pounds over the course of a half century. Edited August 3, 2015 by Sweet Dutch Girl
love my grandkids Posted August 3, 2015 #13 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Used to be 5 for a 7 day cruise now with walking only about
gtouch Posted August 3, 2015 #14 Share Posted August 3, 2015 It's not so much I gain weight on the cruise as it is my scale takes a week or two to remember where I should be..........always blame the scale.
bananawindnj Posted August 3, 2015 #15 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Usually gain about .25 to .3 lbs per day. We love to eat on our cruises (3 a year on avg.) because we watch our intake and eat healthy food at home the rest of the year. It is so enjoyable finally being able to not watch what we eat and count calories. I turn into a Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde when I hit the deck. JawjaFatBoy Posted August 3, 2015 #17 Share Posted August 3, 2015 As little as 2 and as much as 8. But like others, I usually drop most of it back off within a few days.
mss22859 Posted August 3, 2015 #18 Share Posted August 3, 2015 The most I have gained was 8 lbs. on a 7 day, the least have been our last two 8 day cruises, 2.5 lbs. each. And it seemed I was always eating on thos two. Go figure!
loubetti Posted August 3, 2015 #19 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Maybe a pound or two, at most, as I am always active. I also lost weight on a cruise, and not because the food was bad (QM2), but because I put the weight on on land, and was determined I would lose it on a cruise, and I did!:D
Hoosierpop Posted August 3, 2015 #20 Share Posted August 3, 2015 I lose weight. I work out twice per day, and eat veggies each meal. Their low calorie deserts are really good. Drink unsweetened tea and water and it makes for a very good time....... Or, maybe I gain a few pounds by eating at least 2 appetizers and 2 entrees per meal. But, I do get a work out throwing dice at the crap table. So there's that. Also, I do try and take the stairs when I can. Going from deck 7 to deck 4 burns at least enough calories for a warm chocolate melting cake, right?
kona_wahine Posted August 3, 2015 #21 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Last cruise I had to have DH lay on the bed last elegant night and help him button his pants. It has a lot to do with beer and WCMC. :D
islandatsea Posted August 3, 2015 #22 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Usually add 2 to 3 lbs on each cruise and we walk a bunch too. Guess not enough walking ;) .
OCruisers Posted August 3, 2015 #23 Share Posted August 3, 2015 We tend to lose weight on Carnival cruises. Not a good thing for me BUT it's Great for Roundman! :D
dvond Posted August 3, 2015 #24 Share Posted August 3, 2015 I work out 6x a week at home and eat very clean but on the cruise, I take the week off of exercise and eat and drink everything I like. I usually gain 9-12 pounds and it comes off in about 3-4 weeks once I am home and back in my routine. Im
