Room service tipping advice

You know you don't need to tip. I don't use Room Service very often but when I do I tip £1.

We were tipping a couple of quid before we ran out of UK change (note to self, to take a pile of pound coins next time!), then we just used our Norwegian Krona for roughly the same amount.

We always tip £1 every time they come to us and we use quite a lot as we always use them on port days for breakfast as we tend to do the ships tours so it is convenient and then sometime we use them for lunch once we come back.

We use them every morning and on day 1 ask if it will be the same person, then at the end of the cruise give them £1 a day. This works well for us.

We tip £1 a tray, so usually £1 for breakfast and £2 for lunch. It certainly isn't expected, but gratefully received.

I never tipped them. I saw auto tips as covering that.

 

In any case, during our two week cruise they never once delivered the correct order.

 

But I still ate it :)

We get ice and lemons delivered every afternoon and give the crew member £1 every time as we're very grateful. If we get good service (and we usually do- a friendly greeting, smile, being helpful) we give £2 for room-service breakfast or late lunch after being ashore. Some people here say it's included in your auto-tips and it may well be but if we have good waiters / steward / bar staff / wine water we add a bit anyway.

Surely auto tips are supposed to cover all wait staff?

We don't use room service but if we did, we wouldn't feel it necessary to tip extra.

Tip if you feel you must, it is always a personal decision.

I certainly would not tip somebody £2 for bringing a hot drink but then again I don`t believe in tipping full stop

I tip in Euro's or dollars, it's cheaper ! :)

Well I always tip even though I pay gratuities either upfront with royal caribbean or at the end with P and O. I'm used to tipping any extra on dollars so didn't think about doing it on ventura ☺

Best tip in dollars, I think that exchanging coins at a Bureau de change is difficult / impossible.

Maybe P&O will change coins for staff but I wouldn't bet on it.
