Drink prices

All prices are exclusive of a mandatory 18% 'tip' added on.

Coke: $2/can

Beer: $5 (Cheap crap) - $9 ("craft" beer)

Cocktails: $8+

There are cocktails of the day, but they aren't always deals. Some bars have happy hours that offer discounts.

Note that OP is from the UK Sailing Eclipse.

If sailing Eclipse out of the UK, your drink prices will display higher than these, in order to include gratuity in displayed price, rather than add it on at the point of sale, as required by UK law.

If you have drink package, your drink package allowance will be upped in order to cover those prices.

That is to say, the $8 cocktail prior poster noted, will be priced at probably $9.50 (8 + 18% gratuity and rounded to nearest 50 cents I think).

If on drink package, the $9 cocktail limit will be $9 + 18% = $10.62 (not sure if they round all figures or not.

Would be curious to know from UK/Eclipse sailing, if they round or display actual pricing inclusive of gratuity (i.e do they display $10.62 or do they display $11)

My husband and I are taking an 18 day cruise next April on Solstice. We are not heavy drinkers, maybe a cocktail in the afternoon and one at dinner. We do like lattes and cappucinos. They list there Classic Package at 64.90. That means it would be over $2000 for the both of us for the cruise. Isn't that just a "tad" much. What do most people do? They do not give any perks on repositioning cruises so that makes it tough.

Pay as you go.

I find on longer cruses, I drink less as time goes on. SO I've sopped paying for drink packages, though happily take one if available to me.

It boils down to doing the math and seeing it it makes sense or not based on your preference.

For some, having 3 martinis at martini bar (3 @ $13 + 18%) is $46.02 already. Add a $9 glass of wine ($10.62) at dinner, $7 Triple americano at Al Bacio ($8.26) and you're at $64.90, the classic price, (though Martini's aren't included in this, need to upgrade for $11.80 more)

That's with no Coke, no bottled water, no fresh OJ, or any fancy frozen drink at pool.

So figure out realistically what you will drink and see.

The drink package is pricey and if you only have 1 cocktail, 1 glass of wine & a couple of latte's a day you will be better off just paying as you go rather than buying the package.

We are doing a repositioning cruise also with out the package but will probably buy it as DH drinks 2-3 glasses of juice, a couple of bottles of water and 2-3 soda's during the day. Add to that a cocktail before dinner, wine with dinner and a drink or 2 at the show or casino and we are about even or slightly ahead with the package.

JUST off Summit without drink pkg. I was pleasantly surprised to see almost daily drink specials.

Both Revelations and Rendevous Lounges had 4-6pm daily 'happy hour' with $3.50 beer (Pabst normally $5 other domestics run $5.50-6), reduced house wine, and select $5.50 cocktails (before auto-tip add).

Daily bulletin notices showed 2-4-1 wine and/or cocktails at certain bars, e.g. 5-7pm and 10pm-midnight. There was 'bucket of beer' special a couple days. That may be itinerary or sailing specific based on stimulating revenue.

Cuervo and Triple Sec margarita was $8 before tip, Patron Silver with Cointreau was $11 base price. ENJOYED during 2-4-1 my double-shot P+C margarita for $11 ($12.98 after tip).

Looking forward to upgrading to premium pkg on Reflection Dec-12. HAPPY CRUISING

Can you tell me approx. how much the frozen drinks cost? We are not wine drinkers, but DH likes beer, mixed drinks and we both like frozen drinks. We have the Classic Pkg. included, plus $500. OBC, and we are trying to decide if we should upgrade to the Premium Pkg. We want to try some of the martinis, and specialty coffees. What are your thoughts? Should we upgrade or not?

I THINK frozen drinks are $10 plus gratuity. At least that's the price at Slush on Eclipse.

It is really a personal decision, you need about 6-8 drinks a day to make it value.

Not really a lot of drinks if you have a couple of specialty coffees a day, a drink or two during the day, a pre dinner cocktail a couple of glasses of wine at dinner and maybe a drink during the show, you are likely at break even or better.

Some drink that easily, others not on their life.

If you are not wine drinkers and you can tolerate the beer on the Classic package, I would not upgrade; most frozen drinks (except the ones at Slush) will be included (i.e., mudslides, pina coladas, etc. are included.) Specialty coffees are included in classic.

However, keep in mind that one non-included drink per day will probably offset the price of the premium upgrade if you get one everyday. (The premium upgrade is $11.80 pppd, and one premium martini will cost more than that.) You may want to wait until later in your cruise to try the martinis, and only upgrade for part of your cruise.

How many long port days do you have? You might get best use out a drinks only on Sea Days.

I can't make the sums works for us. My wife doesn't drink, is quite happy with her favourite coffee brand. Me. I enjoy my two bottles of wine as a carry on to last me, we also take on a few bottles of water and soda. A bottle or two of spirits in the cabin ordered through celebrity lasts me the cruise and perhaps 2-3 drinks in the evening. There's often a happy hour promo on in the late afternoon / early evening.

I didn't know that you could upgrade part of your cruise. I thought that even if you upgraded a few days into your cruise, they would charge you for every day.:)

Once you upgrade you pay from that point to the end of the cruise.

If I have either the Classic or Premium pkg., and I order a drink in a souvenir glass, is it covered in the pkg. or do I have to pay extra for that drink?

I dont't think the initial purchase of the souvenir drink is covered even if you have a premium package and the price is within the package, They don't allow flights of martinis, or beer buckets under package pricing for example.

Refills would be covered subject to pricing of your package though, they don't care what glass they put it in at that point.
