Charasti Posted August 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2015 We will be going on our cruise Sept 27th and have been research a lot - is there any benefit to wait and get drink package on board vs before we cruise - anybody who has been on Independence - did you see any discount prices or sale prices for the drink package on the ship compare to before we cruise . Any help would be appreciated -- Also on formal nights is it worth going to speciality restaurants vs saving that for one of the regular nights? Rare pasodancer Posted August 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2015 Always a possibility - package prices could go up!//Maria
dplusd Posted August 9, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2015 There have been no reports of drink packages being discounted on board. Waiting until you board you do have the option to buy the package for fewer days...with a four day minimum and running through the end of your cruise. We always go to specialty dining on nights we don't care of the MDR menu. The formal night menus are two of our favorites so we always eat in the MDR on formal nights. First formal night is filet and second is lobster. The formal night dress is not a big deal anymore on Royal (suits and dresses not required) and your fine in nice resort casual attire these nights. Dreamworks941 Posted August 10, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Reading post: Are you saying that the drink packages are cheaper to buy now rather than to wait onboard?
Goodtime Cruizin Posted August 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 10, 2015 No they are not cheaper and do not get cheaper while on board. They will cost you less money if you do not buy the full cruise. Meaning, each day, the price is reduced as the day has expired. The only advantage of buying on board is one can use OBC to pay for the package(s). jozzmenia Posted October 5, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 5, 2015 what do they usually have on formal night on 5 night cruises?
cb at sea Posted October 5, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2015 No reason to prebook drink packages..they do not run out!
cruisinrealtor Posted October 5, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 5, 2015 The reason we are buying the drink package before boarding is so I know my alcohol is paid for and I dont have to worry about that charge being on my bill at the end of the cruise. jozzmenia Posted October 5, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 5, 2015 That's why we booked the drink package too, but it was only a 4 night and we weren't sure if our alcohol would be confiscated. It wasn't, but we brought some back.
