Finally a free cruise!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I just had to post that after reading so many threads about various people getting free cruises, my fiance and I just found out we got one from the casino! We need to take it before 12/31 and we can pick any cruise we want! Now let the planning begin. Open to suggestions!

Enjoy your cruise. And you paid for it in the casino so you deserve to get one

Happy sails Good luck

First of all, congratulations on your windfall!!

If it were me I would use it to take a holiday cruise (only because I've always wanted to take one). You could also do a cruise based on a birthday or anniversary. I guess it really depends on when you could sail, if there's no impediment as far as date is concerned.

Enjoy your cruise!!

not neccessarily....

i have a bounce back offer as well... received it on the Breeze last month... nothing to do with losing in the casino ( i assume this is what you meant when sayig.... " and you paid for it in the casino...)

offers are based on points accummulated on slots or tables. I play slots. The first night i won $1200 and used that to play the entire 8 night cruise. In between there, i won another 320 and 460 different times... in the end, i walked off the ship with more $ than i had when i got on... and a letter offering me a free cruise

its all based on points accummulated,, not losses, or winnings. ( just to clarify so you dont assume anyone receiving a free cruise lost $$$ in the casino, its not the case at all)

on another note, a friend and I got off the Splendor last week.. and she received a free cruise offer. Shes not a gambler usually, but this time she decided she would spend $500 in the casino. Didnt spend her $500,she won and lost won and lost the entire week, to the point she too accumulated enough points for a free cruise. She went home with 327.00, her sign and sail was 320.00

She is now doing 8 night with us in November, with the total cost for herself and her hubby coming in at $1480.00 if she were to pay for it. Instead she is paying taxes and fees, and 110 to upgrade from her free interior to an ocean view.

She too, is in, and did not "pay for it in the casino"

thats just two examples i personally know of in the last month.. i imagine there are many many others out there...

Great explanation, but there will always be those "sour grapes" kind of people out there that will never be happy for someone else having good fortune.

Gratz on your windfall and I hope you have a great time and get another bounce back.

Thank you all for the congratulations! We are not big gamblers so we always read these threads in awe at all the various people who got free cruises on the casino! We always show up to each of our ships with $300 and play table games until we lose that balance. This cruise our $300 made it until the last night of the ship! For someone who said we paid for it in the casino, ill pay $300 for a free cruise any day!

Yes congratulations on your free cruise. Carnival cares not what you lost, its all about the time spent. In March I want on a short 4 day on the elation and spent probably 30 hours in the casino playing 10-25 hand, I got to know all the dealers and pit crew. Last night I had a bounce back and since then have had a free cruise in May, 2 premiers and an ultra coming up.

FWIW I play very little slots so my "points" are minimal.

I unfortunately did "pay" for it in the casino, but it is my way of enjoying a cruise.

Congrats on your cruise. I was always curious if there is a limit of days that can be used? Can you select an 11 day Journeys cruise? Whatever cruise you choose, have a great time.:D

We can pick any cruise we want, which includes journeys. The only exceptions we had was that the cruise had to be taken before 12/31 and it cannot be used toward any other casino event (i.e. we can not sail any premiere or ultra for free)

Congratssssss!! How did you know you had a free cruise? thans

We want to the casino host the last night of the cruise asking her if we got anything. At first she said we did not, but I asked her to look again as I had never spent so much time in the casino (roughly 1-2 hours a night over 8 days). She checked her system and printed us a message with an offer code. As soon as we got back we emailed our PVP who confirmed that it was a free cruise!

Wow, never heard to do that. We've always spent that much time in the casino, DH even got the Drinks on Us card a few times. We've gotten offers in our VIFP page for reduced rates & casino cash, but never free :(

Congrats to you! Enjoy!!!

Since I am usually in the casino, the casino host hands me a letter in an envelope with the offer. Last week, the letter was in my cabin mailbox. The wording on the letter is different depending on if you already have another cruise scheduled or not. In either case, you have a rate code and a phone number to call (usually not for about 72 hours after your cruise) to find out what the offer contains.

Congratulations! Wish we could be so lucky. My husband spends a few hours in the casino every night.

Great explanation, but there will always be those "sour grapes" kind of people out there that will never be happy for someone else having good fortune.

There is one CC member that shows up in every free Carnival cruise thread to spread sour grapes because they didn't get a free cruise during the random cruise-a-palooza giveaway. They swore they would never sail on Carnival again, yet they continue to haunt the Carnival section for some reason.

I do think Carnival does a bad job of letting people know they have gambling perks available. Aside for the letters, you would never know you were eligible for casino cash or fun chips unless you ask. They don't volunteer the info. I make a point of going to the cashier at the beginning of each cruise to ask.

I don't think there was any sour grapes involved. The poster said enjoy your cruise, and good luck, and the OP deserved it. How is that sour grapes?

ImANewfie is of course right on the individual level. Due to small sample size, you can indeed come out ahead in the casino until you play long enough for the luck to even out. (I have no idea how long that is. It might be many thousand hands for all I know.) But in the long term, the odds are stacked in the casinos favor and they WILL come out ahead if you keep playing long enough. It's a mathematical certainty. A gamblers only hope is to quit playing before there are enough hands played for the luck to even out.

So if you look at the people getting free cruises as a group, together they have lost enough to pay for all the cruises they get for free. But if you get entertainment value from spending your time in the casino, you're no worse off than someone who gets entertainment value from spending money on taking shore excursions, or buying drinks all day. And unlike them you might get a free cruise out of spending your money.:)
