mamalovestraveling Posted August 13, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2015 Hello, We are looking for a true Tuscan countryside lunch after exploring Lucca. We will be taking the train to Lucca, walk around for about 2 hrs and then jump in a cab to ??? restaurant before heading to Pisa for the mandatory picture of the leaning tower and back to the ship. I am having such a hard time finding a restaurant that offers the Tuscan countryside feel (lunch on a terrace overlooking the Tuscan hills). Do you have any recommendations? When we were in Siena, there were plenty but since we are pressed for time, we need to have it all mapped out before hand. THANKS!
Rare Hlitner Posted August 13, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2015 One problem is that you are going to a city, not the countryside :). If you want "countryside" you need a car. But Lucca has more then its share of cafes and restaurants. Within the wall of Lucca you would be best to seek-out a nice cafe/trattaoria in a picturesque piazza such as the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro. mamalovestraveling Posted August 13, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted August 13, 2015 We wanted to hire a car/driver who would be taking us from Lucca to Pisa with a stop in the countryside. Not sure if that is doable. I am having a hard time finding a place that encompasses a Tuscan "retreat" between Lucca and Pisa and surroundings. marazul Posted August 16, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) Here are two: Botton d'Oro, via del Ponte Guasperini 873, località San Lorenzo a Vaccoli, Lucca. La Cecca, Via di Coselli, 55 55060 Coselli They are both off the back road (SS12) between Lucca and Pisa and have outside seating with very good food. The real Tuscan countryside. We have not been there in a really long time, but either one might fit the bill. Plot the addresses in Google maps and do a "search nearby" for restaurants. You should turn up a few more. Chances are they all have websites, so check the pictures to see if it is what you want and the opening hours. As for the food, you will have to be very, very unlucky to get a bad meal anywhere in that area. Edited August 16, 2015 by marazul
