Venice debarkation from ship

Sailing on RCCL.

It's about time to think about return flights.

The last days of the cruise, we port in Venice, stay overnight in Venice, then debark the ship.

My question

What time can we plan on the ship clearing customs and allow passengers to final outprocess and get off the ship?

There is no customs to clear like you do when arriving back into the US, you just get off and go on your way. With the ship arriving the day before disembarkation, my guess is that some folks may actually disembark that day. We were recently on a cruise that ended in Copenhagen with an overnight, like you are doing in Venice, and I was surprised at how many people got off with their luggage when the ship arrived.

Venice Marco Polo Airport is maybe a half hour away at most, just allow yourself plenty of time before your flight departs at the Venice airport tends to get very congested.

Marco Polo Airport is a 15-20 minute ride from the pier.

If your flight is to the US don't book anything prior to noon unless you know you can be off the ship by 9am. You need to be at the airport 2 1/2 - 3 hrs prior to departure.

On our last trip we had a noon flight to JFK on Delta. Having almost missed our previous flight out of Venice, we arrived at 9:35am .... we only had about 10-15 minutes to spare before boarding.

We'll be flying BA most likely with a stop in LHR. BA flights depart VCE at 1:35PM (well,, according to the schedule today. Who knows 300 days from now ;) )
