We are taking our first cruise ever aboard the carnival sunshine Stateroom with balcony on deck 9 to the Bahamas on a 5 day sale. departing from Port Canaveral. We arrive Orlando the night before and a shuttle by Cortans($80.00 round trip for both). Any ideas or recommendations are highly appreciated.

Thanks

I would visit the Carnival Cruise Line Board to learn more about Carnival.

You can also make good use of the Ports Of Call section of Cruise Critic to get ideas as to what to do in port and also if you go to the roll call section you can find others from Cruise Critic who are on your cruise.

That's good advice.

A couple of tips:

- Pack all your meds(if any), electronic devices, and wine if you are going to bring it on board in your carry-on.

- Be sure to have your boarding pass and passport/ID available at check in.

- Arrive at port around 10:30 to begin the embarkation process.

- Staterooms are not normally ready for you to occupy until about 1:30, so anything you carry on will have to be kept with you until your cabin is ready.

- Use the time after you board and the boat drill to explore the ship so you are familiar with where food/beverage/entertainment areas are.

- Set your watch to ship time and leave it there! Port times may not be the same as ship time and the ship departs based on ship time, not port time! Do not trust a cell phone or other electronic device to give you the time.

- A cruise is what YOU make it. Plan on having a great time and don't start your journey with your attitude tainted by negative comments you hear or see.

- Relax, you are not abnormal if you get sad the last day of the cruise and start thinking about your next one! It happens!

I am not sure if this helps or not, but whatever you do, have a great time and let us know how you liked your first cruise! Bon voyage!
