Questions re: Hampton Inn Airport North in Ft. Lauderdale

This would be the one on SW 12th Ave. & SR 84.

What kind of restaurants are within short walking distance from this property? Strictly fast food, or is there something a little nicer (but not super-expensive)?

Normally I'd try to stay in the 17th Street area, but my pre-cruise night happens to be on Valentine's Day so prices are jacked up even higher than the typical high season prices, not to mention that I can't even save any money by booking Hyatt Place on ValueTrips because that date is blacked out. (Grrrr.)

There is a plaza across the street where there are a few options for food. McDonalds, another burger place, a Thai restaurant, a sports bar, Subway, a pizza place. We have eaten at the sports bar and the food was quite good. I have heard from others that the Thai place is good too.

Across the road and down a short walk is a German restaurant that is quite good.

There is also a grocery store in the plaza.

We have stayed at this Hampton about 7 times and always been happy with our stay.

Anthony's Runway 84 is just down the street, east of the hotel, and is a 5-minute taxi ride. You will need a reservation for Valentine's Day.

I stayed there one time. Ate the Thai restaurant in the shopping center. There was a Winn Dixie grocery store and Big Daddy's liquor store. It was Halloween, and Big Daddy had a sign posted that you couldn't enter if you were wearing a mask. :D

My preference is the 17th St. area, but wouldn't hesitate to stay at the HI if I couldn't find anything within my budget on 17th.
