I'll be in Catillina in a week, third time here. Havent taken a tour yet, just sort of wander around town. My main activity seems to be to buy an ice cream (I think every other store in town is an ice cream parlor) and find spot to people watch.

Rent a golf cart. There are several rental places right at the pier. I think we paid $60 for a couple of hours, which is plenty of time to see the sights. Our cart held six passengers. They give you a map as some areas are restricted for rental carts. Lots of great photo ops and a wonderful way to see the island and vistas. Of note: the cars rent out quickly and they don't take credit cards. Bring cash for the refundable deposit, I think it was $70. One other thing, there is a size limit for kids as they don't have car seats.

Afterwards you can have lunch or ice cream and visit the cute shops. It is a very enjoyable port.

A short tour of the casino building is always unique and interesting. It was never a gambling casino, but is a ballroom and theater, very unique art and decor. If you like plants (but only if you do) the Wrigley gardens have many rare species found nowhere else. Other than that, the best activity is beach and boadwalk people watching. There are severak dufferent tours that encompass beaching it. Relax and have fun.

Hi , I live here in the Long Beach area and have been to Catalina many times. It is a great place to just wander around cute little village , the beach is quite small, the casino building is nice to go thru, they have a little museum there. There is the Wrigley mansion (really just an old house). Often times you will see scuba divers over by the casnio area. We use to rent bikes and tool around. It is a nice little island the operative word is little. Enjoy.

We will be stopping there also and I found they have a trolley that will take you around a bit so we may do that

Unfortunately it only runs till 4pm and we don't get in till after 12 so it will be a rush to get back to town that way

Hi, shouldn't be a problem getting back to the pier, Catalina isn't real big, you can walk most places with out any trouble. You might want to be sure you get your tender ticket right away so you don't spend a lot of time waiting on that .

Don't miss the guided tours of the "Condiment Factory". It is where they make and bottle that famous Catalina Dressing for salads. Tours are every other hour and cost $5, but that includes an all you can eat salad bar at the conclusion of the tour. It's an interesting way to spend a couple of hours.

Where is that located?

I didn't see it listed in my searching.

Once when were were there for a long weekend, we took a bus ride to the interior that was a lot of fun. The ship probably offers the tour, but I'll bet you can book it cheaper if you just walk into the center of town to buy a ticket. It takes you to the airport (which is a cool little place) and to the point where the two parts of Catalina pinch together. You also stop at the Wrigley farm for a show by the Arabian horses they have there. We sighted lots of buffalo coming & going. As I recall it took about 4 hours total. The driver had a lot of local history to share with us.
