In the US, porters who load your luggage onto the ship expect a tip. Does anyone know if the porters at Civitavecchia expect to be tipped?

Yes they do - and they seemed more appreciative than many in the US.

Yes you should tip them.

It depends. Last year there weren't any porters to be found, so we had to offload our own luggage off the transport and carry it to them. There was no sense of urgency to assist, so the only tip I gave them was -- get another job. :rolleyes:

I went to tip them but they rushed off with our bags and shooed us through to the tent that I didn't even get the chance :) Seems like it might depend on the porters you get on the day.
