Prinsendam in Reykjavik

Don't know the name of the Cruise Port. It is the area where all the cruise ships dock. I believe the downtown area isn't big enough for the Prinsendam. We have been to Reykavik twice and I don't remember seeing a ship in the downtown area.

Even though it is a 20 minute walk to downtown, it is really great walk in nice weather. There is a real nice path that winds along the waterfront. You pass the Viking Ship sculpture and the house where Reagan and Gorbachev met.

But when we were there this August, it was pouring rain and 37 knot winds which went over 50 knots the afternoon we were to leave. There is a shuttle that takes you to the Harper in the downtown area. The cost of the shuttle was $8 round trip.

The Rotterdam was also in port with us. Huge storm on the Norwegian Sea. Rotterdam missed its port call in the Faroe Islands due to the storm that was coming. They hurried to Reykavik so they would be docked when the worst of the storm arrived.

Thank you for all the replies, I was assuming, the old town port was for smaller cruise ships. Evidently, the elegant explorer is small, but not that small. :)
At 205m the P'dam is too long for the city center pier and would just fit in length and draft at Sundabakki, wherever that is! :) The facilities are much better at Skarfabakki, however. The city center pier does not have a terminal building.

edit: Sundabakki is near Skarfabakki, 2 miles from downtown
