GUEST080219 Posted September 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2015 We have a nice thread about the best drinks to try when you have the UBP and don't have to pay per drink. But what are your best value drinks when you don't have the package? After a couple of cruises with the UBP the next longer one will be without so I have no clue what to do without breaking the bank. skeeter195 Posted September 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2015 The beer buckets are always good(buy 5, get one free). With all of the UBP's going on I bet that smuggling is much easier now also. Not that it was that difficult before( I usually smuggle 2 litres on each cruise and have never been caught). I think the drinks are all around the same price. Even when I ordered a zombie(5 liquors in it), it was about the same price as other drinks. asubaru Posted September 9, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2015 The drink of the day without a souvenir glass. casofilia Posted September 9, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2015 We are not big drinkers, just the odd cider with a meal. But looking at prices then I would agree that the best deal would be the day's special provided you are universal in your drinking habits and don't take the special glasses. 23words Posted September 9, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 9, 2015 Hi! I was on the Jade last week and I didn't have the UBP. However, I bought two Cruise Next certificates, so I got 250 dollars OBC, which I used to get the soda+juice package for 10 dollars a day. Then whenever I ordered a gin tonic for example, the tonic would be included, I just got charged for the booze. Depending what you liquor you want, the it will run you from 7.95 to 9.95 plus gratuity ... I liked that option because I didn't feel like carrying soda on board. In the end, I probably wouldn't have needed the juice add on, but whatever. I did have sometimes order a cocktail off the normal menu, but mostly when they were cocktails of the day = cheaper. Here are pictures of the cocktails of the day on the Jade, I guess they are the same fleet wide. My favourite was the Moscow Mule :)

Sounds like you are looking for bang for your buck. If that is the case then a Long Island Ice Tea is what you want. Its basically a glass of liquor. Slam 2 and call me in the morning. 6&8 EDIT: Demonyte beat me to it. Edited September 9, 2015 by sixesandeights

And considering that fact it doesn't taste half that bad, the true evil/danger of that concoction. Never tried a Zombie but apparently that's an old school version of something similar. khaide612 Posted September 9, 2015 #11 Share Posted September 9, 2015 My favorite ways to get cheaper (or free) booze: Tasting Seminars. Bar Crawl. Welcome back parties. Casino. Store Tastings. Beer Buckets. Crap Champagne at some games and art auction. Wine Package or BYO Wine - $15 corkage added to a decent inexpensive bottle of wine is cheaper than buying a whole bottle onboard. Boschmann Posted September 9, 2015 #12 Share Posted September 9, 2015 O'Sheehans had a 24oz Newcastle draft for less than $8, that was the best deal I saw on the Breakaway. The mixed drink tastings were an okay deal also.

Warm-Water Diver Posted September 10, 2015 #17 Share Posted September 10, 2015 Micm... could you provide the link to the UBP thread you mentioned? Here's the thread I started. I've posted the updated spreadsheet with drinks/contents periodically throughout. Boschmann Posted September 10, 2015 #18 Share Posted September 10, 2015 Was that price everyday for the Newcastle? It was the same price every day, not a special. It's been a year and a lot of beers later, I just remember it being one of the better deals, even compared to a bucket.

When talking about the scheduled tasting events, sometimes yes, sometimes no. The martini/mojito flights available anytime (bars vary), no problem with sharing. GUEST080219 Posted September 10, 2015 Author #23 Share Posted September 10, 2015 Y can't u get the ubp in this cruise ! What length is it It is a b2b 31 days cruise. So it is not only pretty expensive but drinking 31 days straight worth the UBP seems to be far away from responsible drinking.
june123 Posted September 10, 2015 #24 Share Posted September 10, 2015 I hope i`m wrong on this one but the Martini flights are not available any more . They stopped them when they changed the drinks menu earlier this year . i checked when we were on the Epic in April and they were no longer available . hope they`ve reintroduced them . They still have the Martini tasting though .

Oh, that's too bad if true - we were on Jade during the menu change in late March/early April and martini flights were available during whole cruise even with new menus IIRC.
