NCL Hull painting

What do you think about the decoration on the forward part of NCL ships hulls?

 

A) Think they add to cruise mood/experience in some way.

Marketing genius, the Escape's is particularly beautiful too. Many other lines have followed and to see a photo of an NCL ship without it makes it look naked.

At first I didn't like NCL's hull art, but as time has gone by I have come to enjoy it.

I don't particularly care for it but since I can't see it when I'm on the ship it doesn't bother me too much.

I have always liked the hull art even though it's true that we can't see it once onboard (tho you can still see Pearls when you go deck 7 aft on the Pearl and same for other Jewel class ships). I have always thought that the hull art gives the ship style..if that makes any sense.

Since it is on the outside of the ship and I am on the inside, it doesn't affect me at all. So, c).

The Wentworth Art Gallery here in the DC area has an exhibition on Peter Max. I love it! His work gives personality to the hull.

Plain white cruise ships without the Hull Art, look so nondescript. However, the black hulls of Holland America, Disney, and Cunard are elegant.

Up to the jewel class looks good. The newer ships look like they have been tagged.

I'm a big Peter Max fan & liked the Breakaway even better than I expected and I loved the Pearl.

 

The Escape hull art by Guy Harvey looks spectacular & I can't wait to see it in person!

I love it! - Makes is easy to pick out your ship when it's in port and you're taking photos. When you see a plain white ship - I think it's really boring.

I've always said there's hull art, and then there's hull art. The Sun's is absolutely perfect, and by far the best of the bunch. I also like the Sky's, very pretty. After that, they're kind of pedestrian but don't really bother me. Except for the Breakaway, which I think is hideous, but I like the Getaway's swirlies. I haven't seen much of the Escape, except for all the fish. I'm not sure what fish have to do with escape, but I'm pretty unsophisticated when it comes to artsy stuff. I don't find anything at all attractive about the Epic's outside silhouette, though the inside looks very nice.

 

I agree with those who mentioned the dark hulls of HAL, Cunard, and Disney. Very nice.

I <3 the turtle but wish the swordfish/marlin thing would have stayed a ray as in the original concepts.

Another vote for I used to like it but not since Epic.

While I don't actually like the artwork I do think it improves the look of the ships by distracting the eye from what would otherwise appear to be a floating white apartment building. I also agree that the ships with darker hulls (Disney, HAL, Cunard) are much more elegant looking.

It's brand recognition. When you see a NCL ship, you know it's a NCL ship.

 

Carnival has their "whale tail", Cunard has colors, Disney has colors and characters/logos, etc.

 

Any word on Bliss' artwork?
