legaljen1969 Posted September 29, 2015 #151 Share Posted September 29, 2015 Discussed on this thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2259149 T&C TERMS & CONDITIONS Offer applies to Freedom of the Seas Sept. 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2015 sailings. Gold status and higher Crown & Anchor members over the age of 18 will receive an additional three cruise points per sailing when each member in the stateroom makes $450 USD or more in purchases during the sailing and after all credit and refunds have been applied, if any. All adults in the stateroom must meet the minimum amount independently. Purchases and charges made prior to the sailing, such as but limited to air, hotel, dining booked through the call center, items purchased through our Gifts & Gear website, promotional onboard credits, and onboard charges for casino and stateroom gratuities are excluded from the calculation of the minimum amount. Amount of guest's purchases will be calculated upon the end of the cruise. Points will be added to eligible Crown & Anchor member's account 60 days after cruise completion. Would that include drink packages? What if you purchase things like that before you go? Would they not be included? By the time you spend the extra $450 per person in the cabin- maybe you would be just as well purchasing the suite.

MommaBear55 Posted September 29, 2015 #153 Share Posted September 29, 2015 So at the risk of actually getting this thread back on topic, I wonder if we are ever going to hear how this experiment went. I guess if they institute the benefit fleet wide then we will know it was a money maker. I do find as I cruise more I spend less on each cruise ship. I may pay more for a room but I am unlikely to buy souvenirs, photos, duty free liquor, jewelry or even $10 ,T shirts. I think this is a great way to encourage people to spend more. If I were close to the $450 I would definitely look to spend $100 more to get there. I am more likely to take an extra cruise for the points because I have the time to spend. DH and I are up for our next loyalty level, so we did splurge for the JS to get there before a longer cruise this winter. (It was only $200 extra for 4 extra points...) Like you, as we cruise more, we realize we actually spend less on board. Do we really need more cheesy pictures? Do I need another T-shirt? I rarely buy jewelry on board....perhaps a cute inexpensive pair of earrings or a cutsy bracelet -- and even that rarely. I did buy a sunhat a few cruises ago, that has become my 'cruise hat' (you can see it in my picture). I would rather put that money towards another cruise, to enjoy those days actually ON a ship. We have an upcoming cruise on Her Majesty, where we treated ourselves to a JS (and did not spend any where near an extra $900) to get double points, figuring it likely is our last cruise on her, since she will be home ported in Port Canaveral after her dry dock, now that she isn't being retired.
