Classic Drink Package

It has been asked and answered many times. Suggest you go to one of the drink package threads where you can look at reasonably current choices including on the website. Also remember that the offerings are subject to change and are almost guaranteed to change from cruise to cruise and also during the cruise.

It is stupid to upgrade until you get on board as there is no savings. Simply take a look.

Oi looked on Celebrity's website before I asked the question and did not see Crown Royal on either the classic or premium listed

I don't drink Crown Royal but I do agree with the rude answer you got. Wait till you get on board....if you don't find what you want upgrade then. Also, not everyone on these boards is rude.....we all had to start out somewhere finding out about these new packages.

Welcome to Cruise Critic. I hope you keep coming back to get some great information from the mostly helpful and kind people here. It took me awhile of mostly lurking before I felt comfortable enough to jump in here. Plus, the website *is* kind of big and it takes awhile (at least it did me) to navigate it comfortably. Hang in there friend, we're here for you!

When the beverage packages were introduced, it began what has been an endless list of threads on the topic. Basically it will change from one cruise to the next, from one bar to the next and even during the same cruise. I think that may be why you're not getting a straight answer.

We've not had a package yet but will have one on our upcoming cruise. We plan to upgrade on board because we like nicer wines with dinner and a martini or two pre-dinner. Plus I like Evian water with my meals, so using our on board credit (OBC) for the upgrade is for us a no-brainer.

At the top of the page there is a 'sticky' I believe which has some great summaries and lists of bar menus and what's on each package. Not being a whiskey drinker I couldn't tell you personally what level Crown Royal is on, but if you have some patience or post the question again on a separate thread titled "Is Crown Royal on classic package?" you might get a straight answer.

You might enjoy getting on your particular roll call if you haven't already. That's a thread for people who are going to be on your exact sailing. Lots of excursions are planned together, activities pre-cruise and during the cruise, and it's a great way to start to "meet" people before you put that first foot on the ship.

If this has been asked before please forgive me in advance! Does the classic package include crown royal?

The classic package included crown royal when I was on the Millennium in Jan / Feb 2015. Many of the lists that you will find do not include the Canadian blended whiskies. However, they are included like Canadian Club, VO and Crown Royal. I would order crown royal in the casino bar every night so the bar tender got a couple of bottles to have on hand when I ordered (it helps if you tip them a few time so they know you and make sure they have crown royal.) I even got a couple of players on the blackjack table to try crown royal and they liked it (they normally drank scotch).

Safe cruising and drink up.

If you get to know the search feature, it really does help. I use it all the time and rarely post.

And ignore the nasty people, there's a lot of them. A lot have cruised so many times, they don't come here anymore to help or share experiences, they come here to brag and criticize. You'll quickly see who's who.

Enjoy your cruise!!!!!!!!!

Would appreciate clarification on one beverage package issue. In reading other threads I seem to recall that if you have the classic package and order something more costly than the package's limit, then you pay the full amount, but same scenario with the premium package you only pay the difference. Is that how it works, and is it the same both with wine-by-the-glass and with drinks?

I just looked at the package descriptions on the X site and couldn't find the answer.

Yes. This is correct.

We booked the classic but already know that we want to upgrade to Premium (because of husband's beer preference and my desire to go to the martini bar :p)...

I read a post somewhere that it costs more to upgrade if you wait until you are on board vs. doing it pre-cruise - does anyone know this to be true? It's my preference to wait since we've got $400 on board credit to spend.

First time Celebrity cruiser - hate this nonsense between the 2 packages - IMO they should just eliminate the "classic". Norwegian only had one and it is fantastic.

No, it doesn't cost more to upgrade on board, it is still 10 +18% or 11.80/person/day. I am upgrading my package when I board so that I can use my OBC.

Confirming that Crown Royal is available on the classic package. DH enjoys it every Celebrity cruise. No need for us to upgrade yet. Maybe we are just simple, easy to please folks.

Us too!! We just disembarked the Solstice a week ago and DH enjoyed Crown Royal quite often on the Classic Package, as well as a selection of Alaskan Brewing beers. I had plenty of choices of Pinot Grigio, depending on which bar I ordered from. We also enjoyed Cointreau, Baileys and all the coffees and teas we could drink from Al Bacio. Bottled water was plentiful. We never felt a need to upgrade but then I'm not a fan of martinis or molecular drinks anyway.

My question/comment is not about the original OP's question but it is about the drink package.....which is the title of this thread. :)

I am relatively new to Celebrity and have booked a TA next year; does Celebrity ever offer the drink package on their TA's? There were no 'perks' offered with this cruise which I thought was kind of weird. I know other cruise lines offer perks across all cruises, but just wondering.

Thanks for any replies!!!!

Happy and safe sailing all!!!!! :D

Just to clarify, Celebrity doesn't offer the drink package as a perk for booking however you can buy a drink package for your TA cruise, either precruise or buy once onboard with obc you may have.

Grandmaanne7 gave the correct answer with emphasis on the "usually".

While it is rare, they do occasionally offer the classic drink package on repositioning cruises....in fact we have it on the santiago to Ft Lauderdale repositioning cruise next year (we actually have 1-2-3 on that cruise).

On the other hand, it's not unusual for travel agents to offer free gratuities and/or OBC's on those transatlantics and repositioning cruises, even though Celebrity themselves don't offer those perks.

Be aware that even if a spirit is listed on official Classic list that 1) less popular brands may not be in all bars all the time (sometimes shelf storage limits) - you may have to check 2-3 to locate 2) due to supplier diffs they can't always restock all brands all the time during their itinerary (especially less popular brands).

I had to 'hunt' for 100% Agave Tequila brands (for margaritas) on Classic after 3-4 bars not holding. Asked politely about availability at Guest Relations and they had Bev Mgr call me later saying he was having that brand distributed from main storage to bars.

In fact, they will let you see, or have a copy, of the ship's brand availability on your sailing on classic pkg at Guest Relations - got it on at least 1 cruise within the last year.

FYI - in my experience, one from a cabin can upgrade to premium, both not necessary. HAPPY CRUISING
