Swimming on board - December?

We are sailing on the Victory out of Miami in the middle of December. I am curious as to whether or not anyone else has sailed at that time of year to the Western Caribbean (Mexico, Cayman Isl., Jamaica) and if swimming on board and at ports of call is still viable then.

When I first moved to Illinois (1 1/2 yrs. ago) from the South, my husband took me and his daughters to go swimming in Lake Michigan in July. The water temperature was 64 degrees. I quickly informed my new family that most people from the south don't remove their clothes outside in 64 degree temperatures and we call that the beginning or end of winter. They dragged me in the water and I turned blue. I think people from Minnesota will swim in anything warmer than an ice cube.
