CruizinMama1026 Posted October 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2015 My husband and I are planning on cruising out of Galveston and read that they have strict liquor laws where the cruise line can't serve alcohol until out of Texas waters. Does that mean Carnival won't serve alcohol (beer, wine, mixed drinks) at all that first day/night? Also, is there any extra regulations if we were to bring our allotted amount of wine on board? Texas Tillie Posted October 3, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2015 (edited) Alcohol served while in Texas waters has to have been bought in Texas with state taxes paid, so the ship doesn't offer their full line of alcohol until out of Texas waters, but, rest assured, you will be able to drink from your first minute on the ship. I think you are out of Texas waters within 3 hours or so of sailing. Rules are the same as anywhere else as to what you can bring on the ship. train460 Posted October 5, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Yes you can drink as soon as you get on the ship and unless you are a super picky drinker you wont even notice the restrictions.
George C Posted October 5, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Mostly house liquor, not much good stuff, they had Dewars for scotch, about 6pm you can order anything. Limited beer and wine also.
