rtlexi Posted October 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2015 Not going on an excursion so with that in mind where is the closest public area with good snorkeling? Are there taxi's to take you there etc...
Rare crewsweeper Posted October 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2015 (edited) For some folks snorkeling at the cruise center is okay. Perhaps a little better to the area right of the small excursion pier, but wear water shoes and be advised that there are no facilities or lifeguards around. Next closest area is Governors Beach which is about a 15 minute walk outside the cruise port. Consult a map. Very limited facilities. No restaurant or bars. Small public restroom. At one time recently the whole place was closed down, no one around unless you walked along the beach by yourself. For decent shore snorkeling with access to small boat snorkeling, you'll need to head north of town to Pillory Beach (Bohio Resort). They do have day passes if there is room but longer staying guests have first choice. Taxis are available at the cruise center. Should be a fixed rate of about $8 pp each way. Rare Keith1010 Posted October 18, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 18, 2015 The beach right at the port is very nice. I highly recommend it. It is convenient and very pretty. Keith
