Coco Cay

Recommended Posts

Just checked the weather forecast for the Bahamas for a week from Monday (the day the Freedom is scheduled to be in port on it's Eastern route) shows a pretty great chance of rain.

I know that Coco Cay is an often skipped stop when there are rough or unsafe seas, but will they still stop there if it's just RAIN?

If not - are the activities still open on the island.

If skipped - any idea what they do with the Adventure Ocean? (DD is really looking forward to it.)

Thanks in advance!

Won't be skipped if the sea conditions are safe for tendering, in spite of any rain.

Gotcha - do most people still get off the ship or do they stay onboard? (Seems a little pointless as many venues are closed.) It's over a week away - so the weather will most likely change. ;D

Our experience is that most get off the ship and enjoy the island.

A forecast of rain there could often mean just passing rainstorms not always a full day rain out. Keep Positive :)

Very true. We're definitely staying positive. :D And - it's over a week away - the forecast may change 100 times before we get there. It was just a thought!

Thanks everyone for the reassurance!

I cant imagine why you'd sit in a tender boat and travel to an island if it is raining. Maybe just to se it quickly but I would imagine rain would mean most people would stay on board.

Snorkeling or scuba diving still is fun in the rain, particularly if your from a cold climate

We were there yesterday. Weather forecast was for 90% probability of thunderstorms. Had a one cloud downpour as the first tender was being loaded with supplies, and that was the last drop we got all day. It was a great day on the beach. Judging from the tenders we watched come back late in the afternoon, most people went ashore.

In typical tropical style we had a squall yesterday that POURED - sounded like a stampede of rain on the water. Then it cleared for an absolutely awesome day. Saw an iguana behind the hut you sign in for wave runners. Had pina colada, floated in the warm clear water. The truth is you really don't know even if they says it's gonna rain (predicted 80% chance for us) it may clear so fast you forgot it even rained......then there's the other times when the wind whips up and the waves are just too rough for the tenders to safely operate. Go with an optimistic open mind - you will have a great time!!
