LUPY48 Posted October 14, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2015 I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction....I'd like to make reservations for the Master Chef's Table on our upcoming Panama Canal cruise on the Zuiderdam. Assuming the Zuiderdam hosts this event, where do I go to make a reservation? Or should I wait until we're on board? Thank you.
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 14, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2015 You can not pre-book this dinner. We always go right away to the Pinnacle and book it as soon as we get on the ship. It is limited to 18 people. We just did it again on the Zuiderdam last spring. The first cruise it sold out. But on our second segment not enough people signed up and it was cancelled. Rare Vict0riann Posted October 14, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2015 I think sometimes they don't even do it, if they don't have enough people asking about it. And sometimes it will be a Cellar Master's dinner instead.
Rare kazu Posted October 14, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 14, 2015 Ask as soon as you are on board and if you are on a roll call, solicit some who may enjoy it. We did that on our Westerdam cruise and had nearly enough with our roll call participants to secure it. I went and gave all the cabin numbers and names. I haven't yet been to one I didn't enjoy. highly recommended :)
freestyling Posted October 15, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 15, 2015 I agree that the Master Chef's dinner is excellent. We have also enjoy the Cellar Master's dinners if this is offered instead.

Actually we have to be careful here. Master Chef's dinner is served in the MDR. This is the Master Chef's Table (I think those are the right words). It is normally restricted to a maximum of 19 people and I believe they need 10 or 12 to book it and do it. It is a tasting menu with different appetizers, main course and desserts with the appropriate wines for each course to match. On the larger ships that have a Pinnacle Bar, you traditionally meet there and are escorted to the Pinnacle Grill to a private area for this get together. The food is very good. If you go to my live thread - http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=46317577&highlight=master+chef+s+table#post46317577 and start at post 538 (which I think this link will take you to) you will see us talk about the Master Chef's dinner and the menu we had is posted there.
