Borrillje Posted October 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2015 My husband and I are on the Star Legend in December. We have a long port day in St. Martin and we've been there several times before. We'd like to take the ferry over to Anguilla for the day, but we need our passports to do that. According to the website, Windstar will take our passports and hold them for the duration of the cruise. I don't mind that. I know some cruise lines do it that way. However, in this case, I'm wondering if they will let us "check them out" for the day. Has anyone had any experience with this problem? Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thanks! 6rugrats Posted October 24, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2015 Yes, in a similar situation, I had no problem getting my passport back.
azevedan Posted October 24, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 24, 2015 Will they accept a copy of the passport to hold, the way hotels do?
6rugrats Posted October 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 25, 2015 Depending on your cruise ports, they may need your original passport to clear immigration and customs. They can't do that with a copy.
Borrillje Posted October 26, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Thanks, everyone. Sounds like it shouldn't be a problem. I appreciate the assistance! :)

This is true - but immigration and customs (if any) is typically completed before the pax are let of the ship. Since the OP wants the passport for the day there should be no need for this ship to need it again until the next port the following day.
