San Juan Disembarkation Day

We have a late flight next spring out of San Juan when we return from our cruise. What do people do with their bags, etc. if you have the better part of the day to explore the town. One member of our party is 88 and we can't lug our bags around everywhere we go. Any ideas?

I'm not sure if it is offered in San Juan, but luggage express is great if available. Maybe you could see if any hotels would hold your luggage for a few bucks?

I'm pretty sure they do not offer luggage express out of SJ. There are some hotels that will let you leave luggage with them (for a fee I think). Check the SJ port posts.

I haven't tried them myself, but Carnival offers excursions where they will hold your luggage on the bus and then shuttle you to the airport.

Some hotels hire day rooms, leave the luggage, have a shower or sleep. Ideal for someone in their eighties.

We used a place called aloha right across the street from the terminal to hold our things. I think it was $3 per bag.

You can also bring your luggage a few blocks up from port to Barrachina's restaurant. They hold bags for free, just leave a tip in the jar! Great food and drinks too! You can also catch a cab right down the street from there to the airport.

We did the rainforest excursion, which got us to the airport just after noon, if I recall. The bus met us at the ship and our luggage was safely stored, then after the excursion, we were dropped off at the appropriate location for our flight. The price was acceptable, and the tour was pretty good.

We used the luggage drop at Barrachina's last year and it worked great. They have a room off to the side of the restaurant with a jar for dropping in some money for holding the luggage. I can't remember if it stated a price, but we dropped in some money when we picked up the bag. No one was there watching the luggage so not absolutely secure but probably as much as a hotel bell desk.

 

And of course had a Pina Colada just to support them which was wonderful. Worked very well to have a spot for the bags for a few hours before leaving to the airport.
