It's a Miracle! I got upsold!

5 days before my cruise on the Miracle I received an e-mail from a "Stateroom sales specialist". I did not recognize the name as it was different than my assigned PVP (who I never use). I did not open immediately but my curiosity got the best of me. Upon reading the e-mail it said there were opportunities to upgrade at a reduced rate. Since I already booked my balcony on a reduced fare Casino offer I decided to give him a call. End result now in an Ocean suite for a $500 difference in price. I turned down the upsell on my last cruise because it was very port intensive, but with 4 sea days out of my 7 day cruise I will definitely be using my cabin more often. The over sized balcony, double vanity (Yay, no prepping in shifts),and jetted tub will all make this a more enjoyable and comfortable trip. For just under $1700 for the week, and keeping the casino cash I am glad I pulled the trigger on this deal. However, the casino may not end up with as much of my money since I will be relaxing in my cabin. ;)

Is it on deck 6. They called me with that offer on Monday. It was $560 to upgrade. I passed on it.

Yes, I realize that. I checked the deck plan and saw it was midway to Lido and down to the bar areas. I am not afraid of stairs. Still between 2 floors of cabins only, so no strange noise sources. For me the 100 Sq ft difference and extended balcony, dual sinks and jetted tub was worth the price. Plus with my casino rate , free play and priority embarkation it was a good deal for me. Sorry if it did not have the same value for you. And again less than $1700 for an Ocean Suite for the week?

Oh, forgot to mention I paid for it with my Verizon gift cards at a 10% discount. So upsell was really only $450. Overall I think I got a great deal. And afterall, that is what matters most. Glad others passed it up, now it is mine.:)

Hi aricczona,

What great luck! I have always been curious about upgrades/up sells...and hopeful I will be lucky enough to get one someday. My husband and I don't really use the casino (aside from a few bucks in the slots) and we average about 21 days a year on Carnival. We just reached platinum for our upcoming Hawiaan cruise on the Miracle in January. Also, we typically book inside rooms, so I don't know if that decreases the chances of getting upsold. Though we would love to upgrade to a balcony if the price was right (I read a review on here where an entire family was upgraded to a balcony for $5 total)! I would appreciate any advice on how to increase our chances of getting an upsell opportunity. Is it just by chance, or does it help to call or e-mail your PVP to let them know you are interested in opportunities. Thanks in advance!
