Guarantee and rate drops

I was wondering, how it's figured if you book a guarantee at cat G, we've been assigned a cat FF, how is the rate figured, if we want to try and upgrade to a Balcony. Is it figured from what we paid for the cat G, or what a FF would cost.

If you want to upgrade to a balcony the rate depends on the balcony rate and neither the G or FF rate.

 

Future cruises:

Sept. 04 Star Princess x 2

It's based on what you paid. But since you're past the final payment date, you may not be able to move up to a balcony at the price they're showing up for now. The rates after final payment are usually for "new bookings only."
