beshears Posted November 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2015 I am not into scuba diving, but do like the beach/sand/heat. If you were to recommend to someone a port/island to visit, which one would it be, and why? If there was something to see/do here and didn't cost too much, what would it be? champagne123 Posted November 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 21, 2015 With the specifics you have listed, I would recommend Cozumel. Tons of fun...great beaches, bars, food and can be done VERY inexpensively. Just beware...too much tequila equals PIER RUNNERS.:D
Clarea Posted November 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 21, 2015 (edited) St. Thomas has some very nice beaches too. We took an excursion to Sapphire Beach this past September and enjoyed it. Edited November 21, 2015 by clarea
Life is Good Cruising Posted November 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 21, 2015 I'm a beach lover too and IMO the beaches on Aruba, St Martin, Orient Bay (French side of St Maarten) , St. John (USVI) and St Thomas are my favorite ports for swimming. It's been years since we've done the Western Caribbean, going to Nachi Cocom in Cozumel in a few weeks so that may be another port added to my list of favorites for swimming. cb at sea Posted November 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 21, 2015 I would advise getting a guidebook on the Caribbean...find out what there is in all of the different countries/islands...and choose your cruise accordingly! I agree with the above post, as to nice swimming beaches. But, there are many other things to do...you don't HAVE to snorkel to have a great time!!! mattpro Posted November 21, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 21, 2015 Arguably the nicest beach in the Caribbean is Mullet Bay, St. Maarten - a crescent shaped beach with soft white sand, turquoise water so clear that you can stand in the water shoulder high and look down and see your toes while the fish swim in between your legs. http://www.viator.com/St-Maarten-attractions/Maho-and-Mullet-Bay-map/d728-a2475?pref=02 My most favorite island is Aruba and their world class Palm Beach. The weather is 85 and sunny year-round with a breeze that prevents you from broiling as you lay out, turquoise water with small wavelets where you can lay on your back and float, fall asleep and wake up an hour later when your head hits a boundary rope. http://www.aruba.com/things-to-do/palm-beach In Curacao there is an excellent beach at Lion's Dive. http://www.booking.com/hotel/cw/lions-dive-and-beach-resort.en-us.html?aid=311088;label=hotel-21568-an-Tt0GLdVLG%2AK%2ACGHEO9_wkQS62221250523%3Apl%3Ata%3Ap1%3Ap2%3Aac%3Aap1t1%3Aneg%3Afi%3Atiaud-146342137510%3Akwd-197020476%3Alp9008160%3Ali%3Adec%3Adm;sid=787e927122309b9cf8b9ec8c45e4e2ab;dcid=4;dist=0;room1=A%2CA;sb_price_type=total;srfid=5304b4f1414d00124e9466c2ad972ea4e5f5d7dfX1;type=total;ucfs=1& When in St. Lucia a day at Sandals resort on Rodney Bay is an excellent choice. http://www.sandals.com/main/grande/gl-home/ You will enjoy all the sun, sand and water in the Caribbean. Velvetwater Posted November 21, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 21, 2015 If history is a thing theres the ruins in Belize which also has cave tubing. Not been but its numero uno on the list if we do a Carribean cruise for the above reasons.
gymbomb Posted November 21, 2015 #8 Share Posted November 21, 2015 I would go to Bermuda. It isn't Caribbean, but great island, nice beaches, and plenty warm assuming you go in the summer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
OCruisers Posted November 22, 2015 #9 Share Posted November 22, 2015 The ABC Islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao) would be good ones for you to consider. :D
