Drink Packages

Recommended Posts

First cruise ever on the Explorer. Could someone please clarify drink packages!

What drinks are free throughout the week? Also on drink packages, my information was "unlimited" fountain soda and some juices, now I am reading something about 12 drinks??

Soda card was $6 a day for adults and $4 for children. This included unlimited soda and juices. Wine packages are approx 25% off normal bottle prices . They usually come in bottles of 5 , 7 and 9(for example for 5 bottles it was $113). You pick and choose what you like . Both soda and wine packages available for purchase the first day outside the windjammer. There is no liquor or alcoholic drink packages available except for the wine. The beverages that are free are lemonade , ice tea, water, and juices at breakfast.

Thank you! I am assuming that coffee (except for specialty) is free also?

I have been elected in my group to get questions answered. New question

just in-is airconditioning centralized or does each cabin have a seperate control?

I have never been so excited about a coming vacation in my life! I am grateful

for any tips and hints people have to offer.

There is a individual control in your room. Some have said that if you have the door open (if you have a balcony room) the air automatically shuts off. We did notice that if the door was open the room got warmer and more humid inside.

We were on Splendour only so can only verify that controls are present there. It is an older ship so I would expect it to be the same in others as well.

Happy sailing.... you will get many questions answered this is a great board with loads of information:)

Yes, coffee and tea are free at all meals, and in the Cafe Promenade, if you're on a Voyager class ship. Most ships now have a Seattle's Best Coffee stand, where there is a charge. If you are picky about the "whitener" that goes in your coffee, read the little cup/containers carefully. Some are "non-dairy creamer" and some are actually "half-and-half".

Each cabin has its own controls for the temperature.

Each room does have it's own air cond. unit. We were on the Explorer in a D2 balcony room on 8/28/05. We loved opening the balcony doors but we didn't leave them open very often because you will find that the humidity quickly fills the room and fogs up all the windows.

At breakfast I saw OJ, apple juice, coffee, water. Other than that in the Cafe Promenade (open 24 hrs) there is always free ice water and free Seattle's Best coffee. We found ourselves stopping by the Cafe Promenade every evening from some coffee and a slice of pizza for a late night snack.

Have fun! She's a wonderful, beautiful, fun ship!

Is the free ice tea & lemonade available at the bars or only in drink dispensers at select locations on the ship. Just trying to figure out whether or not to do the soda cards. My 3 kids would be fine with the "free" drinks BUT how convenient are these drink dispensers from different parts of the ships? 2 of my girls don't even drink soda but would use the cards for juice.

A little over a month left!!!! :D

just thoiught that i would add that the wine package is a good option. you need not finish the whole bottle each night, you can have it recorked and brought back out another night. with a large group not everyone might drink the same wines, so you can share wines this way and save.

It is only available in the Windjammer (and the dining room) Not sure about the Cafe Promanade as we only had coffee/hot tea there - if your kids are juice drinkers, you might consider bringing a few empty water bottles and filling them at breakfast then keep them in your room fridge. If that's all your girls drink, I can't see spending the $$ on the soda card.

I found that my son did not get his money's worth for the soda card this trip. He had soda at dinner each night (which was a can) and one other time. We were in a port every day so that may have been one of the reasons. If we were at sea he probably would have used it more. It is definitely convenient though.
