The Emerald is currently in dry dock in Free port. Does anybody know the scope of the work being performed on her?

I believe the following

routine maintenance, Sabitinis to become SHARE Restuarant, Wheelhouse bar transformation into a microbrew pub which I believe is going to be avaiable as an evening venue

Others may know more.

That is what is happening to Ruby as well. She is currently in Dry-dock in Victoria in Canada . Scheduled for 2 weeks.

So what is a SHARE restaurant? I see by looking at her deck plans, that this change is effective December 2015. But they do not show any changes to the wheel house bar even after her May of 2017 dry docking.

SHARE is the new restaurant endorsed/designed by Curtis Stone. As it has not actually reared its head yet, there is much conjecture about what it will entail. The current rumour is that it will be an upcharge of $49 per person.

I am really looking forward to hearing about it when it is actually open.

The changes to the online deck plans reflect changes in the cabin categories (which Princess seems to be doing on an annual basis) and not any physical changes to the ships. Routine drydocks occur every 2.5 to 3 years so there will not be another one for Emerald Princess as soon as 2017.

Well that's not entirely accurate. Current deck plans do reflect the refit going on the Emerald Princess. The share dining room as per the deck plan has replace Sabatini's. Their is no mention of the micro brew change on for the wheel house bar. Unless the wheel house become a micro brewery with the same name.

Per princess cruises the next schedule refit for the emerald takes place May 5 2017.

As per the source material I linked for you, the Salty Dog Gastropub is an alternative dining offering that will be held in Wheelhouse Bar most nights. The name of the venue is not changing, just a new function being added; the only physical change will be some new high-top tables similar to bar and grill franchise restaurants.

(Think of Salty Dog as the same as Crab Shack: a new alternative dining option that is held in Cafe Caribe--but with no name change to the venue).

Source for this information?

..and please don't say the deck plans; as explained above--and asked and answered almost daily on this board--the updated future deck plans reflect ONLY changes in cabin categories. The current deck plans are valid until April 2, 2016; they are NOT changing with this routine drydock other than the note that SHARE replaces Sabatini's. And two future changes are indicated: after April 2, 2016 up to May 13, 2017; and after May 13, 2017. Note there is NO gap in her sailing schedule indicated by those dates--so when's the drydock

ETA: Emerald Princess departs Sydney for a Transpacific cruise April 12, 2017 arriving in Los Angeles May 10. Drydocking at sea?

I am not sure what the issues are, I am just interrupting princesses printed documentations. Perhaps you might know more. I have not looked at the emerald's itineraries for 2017.

I have been on a cruise where the ship has been remodeled at sea. On our last cruise they closed and refurbished the Caribbean's princess gift shops while at sea. A first for me but then I am not a self appointed princess expert. I am sure over the last 50 years process and refits have changed.

With that said we can only wait and see. Either way I don't see any reason to get our feathers in an up roar.

Cheers

Does anyone know if Princess plans on still offering the Pub Lunch in the Wheelhouse Bar on ships with the Salty Dog GastroPub? I sure hope so!

According to the Patters in this thread:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2283234&highlight=crown

on Crown Princess--the only ship The Salty Dog has so far debuted on; coming to Emerald and Ruby a week from Monday--Pub Lunch was still held twice in seven days at Crown Grill; oddly on one sea day and one port day.
