les Salines

We arrive in Martinique early am (?8?) and leave pm (?4?). We would like to go to les salines. This would involve a ferry to Point au bout, hiring a car, driving to Les Salines, stopping for lunch on the way back (or maybe not), handing the car back in and then catching a ferry back to the ship. Is this easily doable?

we were going to try and didn't.

There were others who did do it on our ship and said it was not worth the hassle of racing around and almost missed the ship.

We were there on our first cruise (2003) with a small group.

 

We left the ship, disembarked and found a minivan driver...negotiated an 'all day' rate. No ferry involved.

 

He drove us to 'les Salines', about a 45 minute ride, through wonderfully green and scenic countryside.

 

We were at the beach for 2-3 hours...long enough for a mild sunburn...then 45 minutes back to the ship.

 

Beautiful beach! Like being in a postcard picture.

 

We were not even close to being late to the ship.

Are there facilities, i.e. chairs, umbrellas, restrooms near the beach?

 

We will be there at end of January and the beach sounds wonderful.

We've decided that it's too risky to go to Les Salines as the ship leaves at 3 and we'd like a good lunch so we'll go to anse d'arlet. Thanks for help
