plum24 Posted December 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2015 We were leaning towards LeGallon based on reviews, but is it too calm for boogie-boarding? Would Little Bay or Mullet be better?
navybankerteacher Posted December 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2015 Le Galion is very calm - not good for boarding. Little Bay of Mullet would be better, but they can be fairly calm as well. Most days at Dawn Beach would be good, but there is the occasional rough day which could be too much for a 10 year old.
Karysa Posted December 10, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 10, 2015 If you need to rent a boogie board then Orient would be my suggestion. You could check the Aquamania water sports website to see if they rent them at Little Bay. If you have the Boogie Board Mullet might be ok but I think Orient has the best entrance and waves for boogie boards.
plum24 Posted December 10, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted December 10, 2015 Thanks Karysa! We have a boogie board so Orient looks good! How far from the port is it & $$ by taxi? What's the charge pp to be on the beach?
caribsun Posted December 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) Thanks Karysa! We have a boogie board so Orient looks good! How far from the port is it & $$ by taxi? What's the charge pp to be on the beach? The beach is free just go to a beach club if you would also like a sun bed, food, drinks restrooms. There is a small fee for the chairs. There are taxi's right outside of the Welcome Center that will take you to Orient beach for $7 or $8 dollars ea person. Its just 20 minutes from the ship and a little longer to get because of traffic. Here is where I like to go but there are other Beach Clubs up and down the beach. http://www.kakaobeach.com/restaurantkakaobeach_en.html Edited December 10, 2015 by caribsun
plum24 Posted December 10, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted December 10, 2015 That looks like a great spot! Can we just get the taxi to drop us there, or do we walk from some dropping off point? Can you share what the fees are there? Thanks!
caribsun Posted December 11, 2015 #7 Share Posted December 11, 2015 Just tell driver to take you to Kakao, its a popular area. In picture you will see dining and shopping area also. Two sunbeds with umbrella is around $20.00 sometimes includes a free drink, just ask. :) http://boards.cruisecritic.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=370833&stc=1&d=1449850975

caribsun Posted December 16, 2015 #10 Share Posted December 16, 2015 Why do you like this place as compared to others like Bikini Beach for instance? Not much really, Kakao is a little more visually appealing. Bikini is also nice and right next door to Kakao. Check them both out from the beach side. Sometimes they have billboards with pricing.:)
Cruiser 4 Life 66 Posted December 17, 2015 #11 Share Posted December 17, 2015 I agree that Orient Beach is the beach you should go to. The others would be too calm.
