Anyone hear anything on this? Before we left there were 15 NYC police with rifles on the waterfront they looked like a swat team also helicopters flashing lights down. Of course no one on board would tell us anything. Casino didn't open till after 8.

On a side note it was my first CTN and it was great for a fast getaway. Unfortunately the last one ncl will have. I would have done many more. I'll be back later to give more details

I thought it was a lot of fun and I'm sad there won't be any more fun weekend getaways like this. At least not for now!

Really unbelievable weather for December. We got some great sunshine yesterday!

I know how lucky were we to have this kind of weather in December

Oh my, another NCL won't tell us anything thread:eek:

No reason for that comment except to be mean and nasty. That was not the intent of this thread. Try and start looking at the upside sometime instead of the downside. It makes life a lot happier. Don't assume so much and of course you could have read your thread I moved on. But now that you replied you will be following. Unless it's actually true that you have no interest then we will not hear from you again on this thread.

This was a fantastic cruise. Who would have thought mid December weather would've been in it's 70's !! Great crew great great time!

That's not my intention so your remark was uncalled for

I agree with your point that it was not your intention, however I think that if you take an honest and objective look at your first post you can see certain phrases that might lead someone to make that error.

Maybe this would be a nicer place if everyone could look at the big picture and not assume that people know their intent. Better to take a step back before we end up calling each other mean and nasty for no reason.

I was simply asking if anyone on land new what was going on since us on the ship didn't know anything. She didn't need to respond. But thanks for trying to explain.

So glad you had fun Geri! I wish I could have joined you guys!

Don't worry about the first line, I took it to be what you wrote, asking if anyone heard anything about it, so you could get the answer. Some people can't wait to jump on people.

We just got home. Weather was gorgeous . Saturday Enjoyed a lobster roll on the Waterfront . I couldn't believe how many people were on pool deck. Friday went to adult second city and Saturday Rock of Ages. What a great weekend getaway to celebrate by DW's birthday .

There was no specific threat that brought the police there. What you saw was a deployment of officers for more visual presence due to recent events. They do deployments like you saw all around the city.

Wow that's pretty awesome and reassuring. I like it!!!

Thanks for explaining

No problem...that is sort of what I figured you were doing with your post. :)

As an aside....while I can certainly understand asking what those on land might know, you have to understand that right now there is a certain reluctance to reply from those very people. In the recent Sky thread, the opinions of many posters were discounted or dismissed outright simply because "they weren't there". With that sort of attitude on the board, you can see why people might hesitate to weigh in...why put any effort into an answer if it's just going to be dismissed outright?

So I just booked this CTN 3 weeks ago. Some of my cruise critic girls had booked it and I figured I will give it a go. My son and his GF joined us. They booked a inside GTY and was upgraded to a mid ship balcony. I had a comp balcony from CAS on deck 14 cabin 14842 which was an angled balcony and I must say I really liked that balcony. Much more spacious. I will post a video of it on YouTube. Just search breakaway cabin 14842. My DH was booked with me but 2 days before backed out so asked my cousin to join me since cabin was paid for already. She needed a break and came. Met up at the pier around noon and checked in very quickly via CAS. Went to Savor for lunch with some of my Garden Villa Vixen Cruise Critic girls. I always do either Savor or Taste for boarding lunch to kick of the cruise. After lunch headed to maltings for that dreaded cigarette. Very crowded up at Maltings. Around 2 went to our cabin to put our carry on luggage in (no porter service on CTN). Then back to Maltings for drinks and fun.

Will be back to continue.

Yay! Thank you for details! I stayed in an angled balcony on Breakaway a while ago and it was nice! How nice of you to take your cousin last minute! Will check back later for more!

My wife and I did this cruise. Had great time. Many of the ship's activiries. Tappan Yakima was open for lunch had great meal.

The captain announced there were coast guard folks on board just before we sailed. He said it was a routine visit and not to worry. We were escorted out by 2 small Coast Guard boats.

We felt the crew did a great job. An officer said these cruises are busier with people staying up later and the party atmosphere. Fellow cruisers were a lot of fun. Some people were up all night according some staff.

The casino staff were also great. We sailed after 6 due to fueling, which explains why the casino opened late.. On Saturday we saw a whale, which was cool to see.

It really nice to spend time outside on December CTN out of New York. We had our balcony door open last night for a while.

The food everywhere was very good. ROCK OF AGES was a Good show. We noticed there was wedding yesterday.

The ship is decorated for Christmas.

We'll miss these short getaways.

Had a great time with the girls on this CTN. Weather amazing. Couldn''t believe we were able to sit outside of Moderno's and have breakfast with that fabulous warm sun beating down! First time doing the Moderno breakfast buffet and must say it was quite pleasant. Two thumbs up for this.

Perhaps there were Coast Guard on ship, nothing unusual about that, but there certainly were NYPD, I walked right through a group of them in the casino and thought how odd to see NYPD! Appreciate their presence and all they do, but it did "scare" me a bit too if I am to be honest.

Amazing how in the blink of an eye you are on and off the ship. Just was way too quick for me. Guess I'm a weeklong kind of gal.

Happy everyone else is throwing in their experience for this CTN.

People were in the pool and lounging on the pool deck because of great weather. They had the usual shows we didn't go been there done that. We had a dinner at the Manhattan Dining Room Friday night, service was the worst I ever had actually. Took forever to even get water. Phyllis had to get the maitre d to bring us water and butter. Food was ok. Saturday night we went to Modernos my first time eating there it was really good I enjoyed it. People are right the salad bar is excellent and the grilled pineapple was my favorite thing.

Honestly we spent all of our time in the casino aside from eating and sleeping lol

Getting off the ship was crazy lines lines and more lines. I have mobility issues with standing stationary so was able to get wheelchair assistance to get off the ship.

Same as phyllis I much prefer a 7 day cruise to CTN but I would do it again if they were to come back with them just becausni love being on a ship

Being from Canada I totally get the great weather thing and everyone outside and using the pools. It's so funny though (myself included) if the weather was that way in July we'd all be complaining about how cold it is :) The expectation that it would be cold then having it be beautiful makes it even better!
