Updated Empress Page:

Seems like the refurbishment will consist of mostly cosmetic renovations, along with cabin updates. Also, she will be offering 4 & 5 night cruises. I'm sure they will be switched over to Cuba ASAP.

They seem to be marketing her as a party ship.

The page keeps changing, now it says 3 or 4 nights and 9 bars instead of 5. Clearly they have no intention of publishing the page yet, but are accidently doing it.

Every time I go to this link it shows very little about Empress, but a whole about MJ's refurb, deck plans, bars, etc. Very little about Empress.

Rick

It was updated all about Empress when I first posted, but now it seems that it has been reverted back to Majesty again.

Should of took a screen shot...

Do the buttons work?

Only the "view staterooms" buttons work. Suites, Outside, and Interior.

No mention of Voom. Would be weird to have a party boat geared towards the younguns without that high speed internet.

All the folks who want to step back in time to the good old days are going to be so disappointed.

Yeah...

I wasn't expecting Empress to really be a "step back in time", but I just wish they would've capitalized more on the small ships aspects. I guess they sort of are (Key West, possibly Cuba in the future), but I just feel like so much more could've been done to make her a unique ship.

Oh well. I'm not on the board who decides these kind of things, so it doesn't matter what I think.

Correct, but without a complete gut they couldn't fix the lack of balconies and tiny cabins. Easier to just stock the bar and let her rip

Good point. Their decision makes sense, despite the fact that it won't be to the liking of the 'traditionalists'.

Already covered in posts 59 and 60 of this thread. That page has not been published on the website yet, but certainly needs additional work.

It seems they must be rushing to pull this all together as the ship transfer to the fleet was just discussed first on the 24th of October.

It looks like the inaugural Miami sailing will include Grand Cayman on the 2nd of April. They have added 2 calls so far at Grand Cayman to cover the March-June schedule now being released.

It will now be interesting to see if they will continue with the same basic itineraries from July.

If they stick with the 5/5/4 day pattern will that include the 5 day Mexican Riviera/ 5 day Key West-Grand Cayman and then the 4 day Bahamas on every other Thursday from July.

The text in the ship description following booking is odd then as it only talks about sailings to the Bahamas.

Empress of the Seas Specifications

Bahamas bound guests will enjoy a newly remodeled pool deck, expanded Day Spa & Fitness Center, plus tastefully refurbished staterooms, featuring luxurious bedding and eye-popping flat-screen TVs and more. And of course, there's still the Bahamas powdery beaches and crystal clear water to look forward to.

I think the stats on the 'Booking Dashboard' on the 'Countdown to Cruise' 'Cruise Details', 'ship' are correct.

Ship Stats

Gross Tonnage 48,563

Length 692 ft

Max Beam 101 ft

Draft 24 ft

Cruising Speed 19.5 knots

It looks like everything is supposed to be live except the ship page. It still shows up as "stake" for Chops. It looks like they won't call her the "Empress Class" and might just end up calling it "Empress of the Seas" if the Find a Cruise by Ship drop down menu indicates anything.

Empress will be tendered on the 31st of May, 2016 while in Grand Cayman.
