Giventofly Posted December 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2015 Dailing in 47 days on the Star. Wanted to pre-book my specialty restaurants, and was hoping someone out there can give me a heads up on "Cant Miss" nights in the MDR. Thanks, in advance. khaide612 Posted December 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2015 Not sure if it has changed but there are more menus than days of the week and so you can have menus on your cruise that weren't on the previous. I don't think the menus are fleetwide either - for instance Menu #3 might be used on one ship the same night that another uses Menu #17 or however many there are. CruiseAficionado Posted December 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2015 If you like seafood (we do) don't miss the mussel appetizer and and buttered lobster entrée in Le Bistro. It was our favorite meal on the ship. If you LOVE meat the variety in Moderno is unbelievable. We tried all the specialty restaurants (two of them twice) and consequently never made it to the MDR. LrgPizza Posted December 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2015 The menus rotate. For example, what one person had on the Star the previous Monday might be different than what is served this Monday.
dexddd Posted December 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 21, 2015 On the behind the scenes tour last week on Spirit they had at least 17 menus for dinner. They had the ones for our week on one side of the hall and they were not in any type of numerical order or sequence. From looking at them, they had Night 6 listed at the Chocolate Night so if you know that night they may have the same menu I'm guessing on that night. They had night 1CC, and night 1BB so not sure if they always have one of those the first night. Looks like they had two lunch menus - Lunch A and Lunch B. casofilia Posted December 22, 2015 #6 Share Posted December 22, 2015 There are a number of rotating menus that are used throughout most of the NCL ships, or were before the changeover to partial A la Carte took place. However not all ships were at the same point on the cycle on the same night. I don't think you could say that ship "X" will be having menu "Y" on any specific night on a future cruise. However if you get on the ship and you are having menu "Y" on day 1 it is most likely you will have menu "Y+2" on day 3 etc. "You pays your money and you take your chance" Mike
Rare KeithJenner Posted December 22, 2015 #7 Share Posted December 22, 2015 As an added complication, it is possible that the new menus will have been introduced by then as well. It's probably a bit early for that, but possible. That is assuming they will introduce the new MDR menus when the other restaurants go a la carte. Demonyte Posted December 22, 2015 #8 Share Posted December 22, 2015 However not all ships were at the same point on the cycle on the same night. There hasn't been a "cycle" ever, every ship manages their own rotation and menu order independently.
