If I "buy" OBC, is it refundable?

Say I add some OBC to my account (which I will really be buying through my cruise personalizer) and don't use it all, is it refundable? Why, you ask? It's easier if there is some OBC on the account so DH doesn't get all frugal on me.. and he won't know where it came from... (On our last cruise we had some OBC from the cruiseline so it was 'free money' to him and even then he had a hard time spending it. On this one we don't and I want to avoid any issues )

We use it all up when we but it, but have always been told purchased OBC is refundable.

I prepaid $600 of on board credit before our 10nt repo cruise on the REGAL in October. We only used $400 of it, and they mailed me a check for the difference about a month later.

FYI, the envelope they send it in doesn't say Princess on it, and it doesn't come from California; at least they check they sent me didn't. It would have been very easy to assume it's junk mail.

I've always sent myself money between final payment and departure. I've always gotten back whatever I didn't spend; got it back in cash at the purser's desk. I have no idea at what amount a pax would receive a check afterwards instead of cash.

I'm taking extra money for souvenirs, taxis from the pier to the Melbourne Hotel, the hotel out to Melbourne Airport and home airport to home in the form of Casino Credit. I understand this is easier to cash out-newbie, very excited first-time cruiser here so thank goodness for Cruise Critic posters, learnt a tremendous amount here!

46 weeks and 1 day to Embarkation for me!
