I need serious help with hotels and transport

Ok, I have a cruise in 2 weeks on the conquest out of fort Lauderdale. I have everything going set as to getting on the ship. But when we get off we need to stay an extra day before we fly home.

I have found that hotels are VERY high, and ones that have airport shuttle service are even worse.

I was going to rent a car at the airport, take a shuttle to the airport to pick up the car and drop it off the next day. But boy is the bill adding up quick.

A crappie 2 star hotel is 150 bucks, plus 40 for the rental car.

If I get a hotel with a shuttle, how do I get from the cruise port to the hotel?

Anyone have any tips.

What?! When are you going? What about changing flights home?

I have been trying to find a way to cancel my flight thru my trip insurance and just drive. It would save me a ton of money. But aside from telling a huge fib to my doctor to get a note saying I cannot fly, I cant think if any way out.

I am booked with allegiant air and you can't switch cuz they only fly a few days a week which is why I planned to stay an extra day. I just didn't expect hotels to be so expensive. My fault for not checking that

A hotel in Fort Lauderdale on a Saturday night is about 200 unless you get a real sketchy one. I really thought January was off season, I guess I was wrong there too

Holy cow, you're not kidding! We have stayed at the Holiday InnFt Lauderdale Airport twice. It was nice.

I checked Hotwire and you can get a little better deal there.

I've been on priceline travolicity, Sam's Club travel. . I've been burning up the Internet for hours. I'm getting a headache . I'm in sticker shock. I'll have to pay for a cab or rent a car and pay for a hotel. Ugh... won't make this mistake twice that's for sure

Days Inn Hollywood Fort Lauderdale Airport have rooms for $154 that include Airport & cruise port shuttle but I believe they charge $10 for the cruise port shuttle. But at least with that you would not require a rental car unless you just desire to get one.

Well, look at the bright side - you're going on a cruise. Maybe you'll hit it big in the casino! :D

Blame Madonna concert fans for taking up all the hotel rooms that weekend. I originally booked on a Carnival cruise leaving Jan 24/16 but switched to Dec 2015 when I couldn't find any affordable hotel room. Hotel prices were already this crazy when I started looking 6 months ago.
