neilsak Posted January 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2016 Let me explain. It will be our first time in Miami, when we get down the day before our cruise, I will be renting a convertible and hitting South Beach to enjoy the surroundings. So the beginning part of the cruise works out well. Now, when we finish our cruise and get off with all of our luggage, instead of finding a way to the airport, renting a car, and hauling our luggage around with us in another rental, my wife had the idea of taking an excursion on the last day of debarkation. I am wondering if that is at all possible ?? On the last day, when you get off, can one actually book an excursion, somewhere in Miami ?? Perhaps to a zoo or a sight seeing tour ?? Of course keep in mind, our luggage will be with us, hence why the rental car idea seems better once again, to carry our luggage with us. My in-laws will be headed to the airport, as they are older and less mobile, so don't want to spend the whole day in Miami with us. Our flight is only at 8 PM I think, and don't want to sit all day at the airport while in Miami. Thanks Neil
Rare KeithJenner Posted January 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2016 NCL often offer excursions on disembarkation day which end at places like the airport. From memory, in Miami they do ones to the Everglades and also I've seen one which gives you access to a hop on hop off bus whilst they look after your luggage. Look at the excursions section on the website. I'm sure that privately organised tours are a possibility as well.
Va. Plumber Posted January 18, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 18, 2016 NCL offers post-cruise excursion around Miami that ends up at the airport. Don't really know how long it its. Your luggage goes with you on excursion.
perkydebrajean Posted January 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2016 We did the Everglades tour after our cruise. We had a 5pm flight. They kept our luggage secured on the bus during the tour and dropped off people flying out of Miami to the airport and then the ones flying out of Ft Lauderdale. We enjoyed it. Wavesprite Posted January 18, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 18, 2016 Perky, what time did you have to get off the ship (or what time did the excursion start) and what time were you dropped at the airport? What did you do at the Everglades? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What did you do at the Everglades? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk To be honest I can't remember what time we got off the ship for it. It was over a year ago. We were on the Pearl and everyone that was doing an NCL excursion met in the theater and then you went with your group off the ship. They were really good at letting you know where to go. I believe we had special luggage tags denoting that we were on a tour, but I've slept a few times since then and my memory sucks! The Everglades tour took us to an alligator park and we did an airboat ride through the Everglades and got to see alligators up close and personal. I believe we were dropped off at the Miami airport around 2pm. I bet we were off the ship for the tour around 9am.
Sauer-kraut Posted January 18, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 18, 2016 (edited) For the Everglades excursion you meet in the theater and disembark with the group. The luggage is stored under the bus, I left my carry on stuff inside the coach because the driver stayed in the bus. I highly recommend the Everglades tour! I've done it twice now, your only restriction is that your flight needs to depart after 2 pm (I think) and they will take you to your terminal at the airport. The docents on the bus are great as well and will give a running commentary on what you are seeing as well as a history and natural science talk. This is truly worth the money in my opinion. cb at sea Posted January 19, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 19, 2016 2pm to 8 pm is a HUGE amount of time to kill....I would forgo an excursion, and rent a hotel room for the day, if you can't change to an earlier flight. They will be rushing you off the ship right around 8-9am....you've got a long day ahead of you!
goattyer65 Posted January 19, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 19, 2016 we booked the airboat everglade tour. It was great. We met at the meeting place and were escorted to a bus. You take your luggage with you. You retrieve your luggage from the bus when you arrive at the airport, If you are going to book this excursion I would suggest taking bug spray. I recommend if you have never been to the everglades and you do not have to worry about your luggage,

I agree with your hotel suggestion, at least you can relax and use the pool until supper time and grab dinner and head for the airport.
