hitnronladalle Posted January 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2016 Hello Everyone: Some reviews state that the French Doors in a 4K cabin have been nailed and cannot be opened and some state that their doors did indeed open. Can someone please verify this one way or the other? Thank you so much.
pcvtmom Posted January 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2016 Ours DID open, but that was in early August.

My experiences on the Miracle in 4K's have all been positive, and all doors worked (4140 & 4146).
SadieN Posted January 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2016 The last few cabins, in the 4200's, have picture windows. The cabin pop up on the deck plans will say if it opens it not. We had 4197 on the Miracle and it was a French Door.
magnetlady4u Posted January 19, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 19, 2016 We were on the pride 11/30/15 and our doors were locked at the bottom. I had heard that room steward can "unlock" them. We did have rough weather, maybe that was why. Just ask if they can be unlocked. (We didn't ask ) will next time!

Rare nunuc2000 Posted January 19, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 19, 2016 First I'm hearing this. Doing this would ruin the purpose of them. Where exactly did you read this? I had read a comment along those lines too... just before Christmas. I can't find it now, but that poster had stated that they were expecting the french doors to open, then they weren't able to open theirs. I would be disappointed too - we have a french door 4K booked for our B2B Mexican/Hawaiian cruise in October, and the only reason I booked that was so that we could get some fresh air with natural light. Hope more people who have recent experience (positive or negative) can chime in and let us know how their 4k rooms have turned out. Celine

foundmyMcGyver Posted January 23, 2016 #12 Share Posted January 23, 2016 just came back from trip on the Pride, had room 4112 and doors opened butthere was a lifeboat there. DH and I are in 4112 March 13, do you have any pics with the view? is the ac working good? Anything to be aware of and be prepared for in the room? We are very excited, we have been on Pride 3 times but never in one of these rooms. Any info would be appreciated. Hope you had a great cruise! Debby249 Posted January 23, 2016 #13 Share Posted January 23, 2016 no pictures available but the room was standard. A/C worked great and the cabin steward was really great. As I said the view is of a lifeboat and if you want to look at the ocean, you almost have to sit on bed and look down. The lifeboat also blocked the light and any sunshine available and wasn't until we went up to lido that we saw it was a nice sunny day. You can open the doors and stand there but that is about it. There is no place to stand outside. Actually our friends were on the first floor with a picture window and had a wonderful view of the outside. Wish we would of chosen that but I had read so much about these rooms that we wanted to try it. If you have a room without a lifeboat in view probably makes a real difference but there aren't too many rooms like that. Also, the door was difficult to open but was operable. We also were in mist of a hurricane.

My husband was going to be packing his McGyver tools thinking the doors were going to be locked lol! I am ok with the lifeboat being there, we have had balconies and oceanviews but never one of these so eager to check one of them out as well. Also the rate we booked this at while on Splendor 9/2014 was at a steal plus the $200 OBC for booking while on a cruise. So crazy excited for this cruise and trying out a new room. Sue Do-Over Posted January 24, 2016 #15 Share Posted January 24, 2016 We had 4K's on the Legend. Those doors opened, but had a pin at the bottom for extra security -- our room steward said that they rattled in rough seas, so got an extra 'wedge' to keep them quiet. He went on to say that they are doors, not windows, to provide additional evacuation exits, in the event that fire, damage or other 'dangerous activity or people' on the regular decks prevented them from loading life boats as normal. pohlerbear Posted January 25, 2016 #16 Share Posted January 25, 2016 We were in Pride in August in 4127. The door " opened." The bed was in the way, so you had to get to the left of the door, open it, then shimmy into the small opening. That being said, for the price, it was worth it. hitnronladalle Posted January 25, 2016 Author #17 Share Posted January 25, 2016 Thanks to everyone that posted. We would love any other info or tips your could give about the Pride, its rooms, etc. Again, thank you all. Ron
RecoveryDude Posted January 25, 2016 #18 Share Posted January 25, 2016 I also read about this issue. I'm on the pride in a couple weeks in 4105. Anyone ever been in that cabin? Someone in another thread said there was a "screw" ... I was wondering if that was true, and if so was it Phillips or flathead? Also, someone else mentioned some 4K rooms have a "picture window" ???? That was now what was described in the booking... Jeff aka Recovery Dude :)
hitnronladalle Posted January 25, 2016 Author #19 Share Posted January 25, 2016 The rooms with a picture window in 4K are 4202, 4203, 4205, 4207
