Carnival Venezia October 25, 2024 to November 4, 2024

There are so many bad reviews on this ship- glad to see a good one. We all may have questions for you about the layout as we get closer 🙂 -
We didn't have any problem getting an uber at the port. We had two cancel on us trying to get from the hotel to the port.

We stayed at Farfield by Marriott 5800 Burton Station Rd. Room was nice and it was about 15-20 minutes from port. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. Room was clean and there were three of us also. Only concern was getting an uber to the port. Luckily someone was getting dropped off in a taxi and we were able to grab him. We had two ubers cancel on us before that. We had no problem getting an uber from the port back to the hotel to pick up our car.

1 night hotel in New Orleans before cruise.
pohlerbear replied to shanna135's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I came to recommend the Bourbon Orleans as well. We've stayed there a few times and love it. -
I’ve seen video where the ship appears to lose power before it hits the bridge. Early reporting is they lost ability to control the ship. So tragic.

Carnival Venezia October 25, 2024 to November 4, 2024

Hi! I live in NJ so can't help much with the hotel- but I see a lot of people book hotels in NJ. NYC hotels can be very expensive! That said, I've cruise out of NY a few times, and it really is a sight sailing out of the city. The best IMO! -

I didn't see this until now. I currently have $500 OBC, which I would lose. But seeing a Terraza balcony for the same price we paid for a terrazzo interior. Not sure what to do... -

Where do you find quieter areas on Carnival Magic?
pohlerbear replied to wrightkj's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Deck five - whichever side doesn't have the BBQ restaurant (forget which side has it). We sat out there and read often. Hardly any traffic and most that did come through were quiet and respectful -
NEW EXCURSION. “Party Bana” on HMC???
pohlerbear replied to missholly24's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
That seems awfully expensive for an oversized float. Hope it comes with alcohol or something -
We bring a small funnel with us. We order shots while on board and pour them in a water bottle. On HMC, there is free lemonade and ice tea we use for mixers.

I don't recall ever having a shelf in the shower... I always store the shampoo / conditioner bottles on their soap dispenser. But I like the idea of the mesh bag and already have one at home.

Carnival Magic - please help! First time in forever
pohlerbear replied to mook1525's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Looks like your questions have been answered. I just wanted to add that I went to Bimini twice last year. This is a port where I would skip an excursion. Once you get off the ship, if you walk down the end of the pier (or wait for the excursions to clear out and you can take the free trolly) there is a shopping area right there. There is a beach there but it wasn't clear to me if you could swim or sit on the beach for free. Also right there are taxis. We took a taxi to town and it was $5 per person each way. They dropped us off "in town" which was about a 15-2 minute ride. In town was a little shopping area, hole in the wall restaurants, and a beautiful free beach. In the alternative, lots of people rent golf carts and drive the island themselves. BImini is a beautiful island and the people are great. A lot of people don't care for it but I like it better then Nasssau/ Freeport. -
Norfolk terminal stepped up. Nobody had any issues
pohlerbear replied to csoud68's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
We sailed Magic in the fall last year. I didn't want to mess around with the busses (we had cruised earlier in the year and there were huge lines getting back to the lots) so we parked at Dominion Towers on Waterside Drive. I pre-purchased it and its about a ten minute walk along the water. We'd park there again if cruising in Norfolk. -
Does a Travel Agent See the Same Availability as PVP
pohlerbear replied to sunonfire's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I checked my confirmation, and can't find the rate we were booked under. Maybe it was a casino rate, but we haven't spent a dime in the casino in about 8 years. -

pohlerbear replied to sunonfire's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Never booked with a TA, but my first booking ever with a PVP today. She could see rooms available that looked book from what I could see. She also got me $500 OBC which I didn't have in my offers. So I will always book with a PVP from now on. -
Purchasing multiple drinks at the bar
pohlerbear replied to barriechris's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I've bought a round of shots for friend while on the drink package, but that was pre covid. -
Carnival “May”Crackdown on Chair Hogs
pohlerbear replied to sunonfire's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
It would be nice if the ships had some shelving cubicles to put your shoes/ towels in. We don't typically sit in the sun much so the only reason we grab a chair is to have somewhere to put our stuff while we swim. -
There's a smoke free casino on the 4th floor. Not sure when that went in though... and I've cruised Magic twice this year and didn't make it there either time LOL
