Islandattorney Posted January 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2016 We are just back from our first cruise with Celebrity after many years of cruising with just about everybody else- especially the smaller lines such as Oceana,Silversea, Seaborne - and we really liked the Summit. We were in a Celebrity suite which we found delightful with the much greater space than we have been used to on other lines, (but then we couldn't really afford their true suites.). We particularly liked the food in all the dining rooms. I think we may try them again but now I'm wondering if we should expect the same experience on other Celebrity ships, as I read reviews that described the Summit as being popular with "foodies", implying that the other ships might not offer an equivalent dining experience. Would those of you who are true Celebrity experts share your views on this? Are we likely to find all their ships comparable for dining? Suites? Good service? Many thanks for your advice... gopro63 Posted January 23, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2016 What makes it enjoyable even more, having the same waiter that remembered you from your last.
Rare ghstudio Posted January 23, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2016 All of the ships are at least comparable....the S class are newer with more venues. Food is essentially identical (menus are the same across the entire fleet with the exception of the Xpedition)....variation comes from the executive chef on board or whoever prepares and seasons the dishes. The S-class also have more specialty restaurants which is logical since they are larger ships.
az_tchr Posted January 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2016 Summit is one of the older ships. Newer ships should equate to a better experience. Certainly food will vary with the crew preparation, but pretty consistent across the entire company.
wallie5446 Posted January 23, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2016 As other's said, the food quality is the same across the fleet. Now the 5 S-class Sisters are our favorite designs to sail on, with the Reflection being our favorite ship to date.
Rare Cruise Raider Posted January 23, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 23, 2016 We've never been on the Summit but have sailed several times on the Infinity in most room types and we've always, always, always had the best cruises on this ship. Our next favorite are the S-class ships which offers a wonderful experience but they are larger ships.
patterson3 Posted January 23, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 23, 2016 As other's said, the food quality is the same across the fleet. Now the 5 S-class Sisters are our favorite designs to sail on, with the Reflection being our favorite ship to date. The Summit was the first Celebrity ship we sailed on and we loved it. We've since sailed on the Eclipse and Reflection twice and we loved both even more than the Summit!
boscobeans Posted January 23, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 23, 2016 We've been on: All the M class ships (Constellation, Infinity, Millennium and the Summit). Two of the Solstice (Equinox and Silhouette). Along with the Century, Mercury and the Zenith, smaller ships that are not in the line anymore. We have stayed in every category from an inside to Royal Suites. The newer ships (Solstice class) are just that, newer. A little less wear and tear and some differences in deck plans and cabins. Food has been generally about equal across the fleet. Service has become a little spotty over the years, but I do not think it's a ship thing as more of a general fleetwide trend. Still very good however, as compared to Royal Caribbean and a bit better than Holland. We prefer the M class or the smaller long gone ships over the newer and bigger however we have never had a bad cruise with celebrity and our most recent on the Constellation, a few months ago, has done nothing but whet our appetite for our next on the Summit, just a few months from now. bosco
